Today is July 1, 2010, but more importantly it is July 1 ... and that means MVP Awards and Re-Awards happen for this quarter today.
I am ecstatically happy and humbled to announce that I've been re-awarded for 2010. Re-Awardees have to be vetted just like new Awardees, so it's never a sure thing, and always a fun email to receive.
Thanks Suzanna, Toby, all the product team folks, and anyone else involved... you've made my week/month/year :)
We now return to our regularly-scheduled programming...
From SilverlightCream.com:
- Explanation of Cross Domain and Client Access Policy files for Silverlight
- Ben Hodson has a diagram and code-filled post up about Silverlight Cross-Domain and Client access policy files... another to read even if you think you know it. Thanks Ben!
- Uploading and geo-tagging photos on Flickr using Silverlight 4's HttpWebRequest
- Marcel du Preez has a very complete tutorial at SilverlightShow on geo-tagging photos on FlickR ... all the source and other fun bits like a link to the MD5 algorithm.
- Tips and Tricks for working with the WPF and Silverlight Designer in Visual Studio 2010
- Karl Shifflett posted a good set of Tips and Tricks for using VS2010 for WPF and Silverlight ... you should at least give it a once-over. I've added it to the Cheat Sheet Outlook Bar entry on the right-hand side of WynApse.com (a Silverlight 1 control)
- Sample Data in the WPF and Silverlight Designer
- Karl Shifflett also has a must-read tutorial up if you're doing anything with data in VS2010 and Blend and SL/WPF ... explaining in detail on how to get your sample data to work in the Visual Designer without pulling out what hair you have left.
- Creating a Netflix App using nRoute: A Step-by-Step Guide
- Rishi has a great tutorial up on building the NetFlicks interface using his nRoute package... what a way to show off what all it can do! ... and all the source is available.
- Open Source Databases for WP7
- Chris Koenig is talking about the currently-available 'open source' databases for WP7. I may be a little fuzzy on open source, but you may want to look at my post yesterday about Perst database for WP7 cost breakdown
- Import Art from Photoshop and Make into Silverlight Controls
- Adam Kinney has a very cool tutorial up on taking Photoshop artwork through Blend to Silverlight as a control... how cool is that? ... and all the source too.
- A WaspKiller Game with Silverlight 3, .NET RIA Services, MVP and MVVM Patterns Part 1
- Xianzhong Zhu posted the first part of a nice long tutorial up on a Silverlight 3 game using .NET RIA Services and MVP. This first part is setting up the MVP portion. Silverlight 3 you say? ... well, I'm thinking WP7 :)
- Unit Testing Dynamic XAP Files
- We've been reading a lot about using MEF to dynamically load XAP files but how about this one... Jeremy Likness has a post telling us how to UnitTest that stuff...
- Get Started with Silverlight 4
- I would normally list something like this as a Shoutout, but CrocusGirl has such a great set of references for Silverlight learning, I thought I'd post it here... looks like one to bookmark to me... check it out! -- oh, and thanks for the shoutout :)
