I need help from the Silverlight Community

If you've been reading along from the beginning of this blog, you'll know that at times there have been people that 'scraped' other devs blogs. One particularly good one was scraping Tim Heuer to the point that he even scraped a post Tim did about Zappos (go figure).

We got rid of that guy, or maybe he morphed into someone else, but at least the site went away.

Today I had an author write me that something I had posted about in SC was his work rehashed. I haven't heard back from author2 yet. If I take into consideration the dates of posting and the fact the artwork on the post was an exact match, not to mention the text and links ... if this was one of my University of Phoenix students, I'd have filed a plagiarism report already!

Now my request:

In case you don't know me, this is a one-pony circus here... I look at a LOT of blogs every day and cull the good stuff out to put on my SC posts. 'Back in the Day' it was somewhat easier to see duplication, but with the volume of blogs now, it appears that is impossible. So I'm asking everyone to help me and if you see something that looks familiar, let me know immediately! ... even if the original work is not yours.

This will just make the SC posts that much more relevant and a better delivery for all involved.

Thanks! and

Silverlight Cream for September 15, 2009 -- #692

In this Issue: Danijel Stulic, Ryan Shelby, Mark J. Miller, Chris Klug, Erik Mork, Joe Stegman, and Matthias Shapiro.

Shoutouts:

Koen Zwikstra announced Silverlight Spy 3 RTW ... this is just 2 years from a blog post to RTW... very cool, Koen, and congratulations! Everyone else... go download it!

David Anson posted A preview of upcoming Charting changes [Silverlight/WPF Data Visualization Development Release 1]

David Poll posted a short Update 2: Displaying background activity in a Silverlight RIA application based on comments from readers about issues with the original work.

If you're a Scott Guthrie fan (who isn't, and if you're reading this and you're not... don't make me get up!)... check out a post by Martha Rotter Guathon ... I thought some of those were hilarious!

Note: This post has been updated to remove a post that appears to have been copied from another source. Please, if you find something like that going on, let me know. There's too much out there now for me to see everything!

From SilverlightCream.com:
Silverlight SaveFileDialog doesn't work in Opera
Danijel Stulic has come up with a problem with Opera and FileSave. He's got some code, but would really like a better work-around, any thoughts?
Creating Excel Worksheet From Silverlight
Ryan Shelby has code up that produces an Excel Workbook from a Silverlight DataGrid... not your mama's DataGrid though... and he's going to blog about that later!
Silverlight/WPF: Customizing the DatePicker Control
This is the first of my following Mark J. Miller... he's got a great post up on customizing the DatePicker control to be similar to that on the iPhone ... good stuff.
The CommandManager take 3…
Chris Klug takes one final swipe at CommandManager before letting go of the thread. He has some upgrades, acknowledges it's Silverlight 3 only now, and stands behind his reasoning for a need for CommandManager.
In the Trenches: You’re Making Applications Backwards
If you're trying to do the whole Designer/Developer thing and it's not working for you, listen to Erik Mork's latest Sparkling Client Podcast with Cynergy's own Mike Wolf.
Silverlight ICO/ICON Decoder (Parser)
Joe Stegman built an ICO parser in Silverlight. Pretty cool, you browse to an ICO file and it displays the images... and he's got the source posted!
How To Build a Storyboard Animation for Silverlight in C#
Ever had a need to build a storyboard programmatically? Matthias Shapiro walks through doing just that in his latest post.
