Silverlight Cream for September 04, 2009 - 2 -- #684

In this Issue: Victor Gaudioso, Al Pascual, Colin Blair, Giovanni Montrone, and David Kelley.

Shoutout:

Best wishes go out from SilverlightCream to Justin Angel. I'm sure everyone's heard the news by now. I'm pretty well positive that his energy, enthusiasm, and knowledge is going to be missed in the inner circles. As soon as he gets back to blogging, you'll see his name here.

From SilverlightCream.com:
New Silverlight Video Tutorial: Creating Morphing Vector Path Storyboards in Blend
Victor Gaudioso has a very cool Blend tutorial video up on morphing an image... go watch the video before you might go past this one. I just came across Victor's blog, and will be following him.
Part 3: Accessing Security and Authentication in Silverlight using .NET RIA Services.
Al Pascual has part 3 of his .NET RIA Services series up and it's suggested you digest the other two before digging into this one. He's talking authentication this time and explains how to get that into the process and of course provides all the code!
Meet the DomainClient
Colin Blair continues to blog about the innards of .NET RIA Services. This time Colin introduces the DomainClient and dispells many pre-supposed opinions. He's going to be spending more time on the DomainCLient, so this would be a good place to jump in if you haven't already.
Silverlight 3 File Sender Utility
I gave the link for this to Giovanni Montrone's blog, and he has links out to his article, a running example, and the code on CodePlex ... all good, and I'm going to be following Giovanni's blog now as well.
geekSpeak Recording - Composite Application Development with David Kelley
David Kelley is the subject of the latest GeekSpeak recording at Channel 9. David discusses the designer/developer workflow, and resources are available as well.

MSDN Social Bookmarks going away :(

I suppose in the back of my mind I wondered how long that would last… I just noticed tonight there’s a banner that says it’s shutting down October 1.

Following the rule of not putting all your eggs into one basket… or at least a basket you don’t own, I’ve never stopped stuffing tagged links into my tag cloud at WynApse.com.

Every Silverlight link goes out on the @SilverlightNews twitter feed, and then gets posted in my SilverlightCream blog posts. Those links are aggregated and tagged multiple ways at SilverlightCream.com and you can use the search page to search by tag, partial subject, URL, author, or word(s) in the synopsis. There are currently 4106 articles in the SC database.

But at the same time those are posted, I’m also stuffing those and any other links I find interesting into a tagged aggregation that at the time of this writing contains 7058 articles tagged 9940 different ways using 418 unique tags. And the cloud is at the bottom of the blog roll page at the link given above.

So, if you want Silverlight info at the time I find it, follow @SilverlightNews. If you want to get it aggregated, read  my blog, or grab the RSS feed for it. But if you’re looking for anything else, you might want to take a look at that tag cloud – sort of my own version of the MSDN Social Bookmarks without the social, and I’ve been building the list longer—about 4 years now :)
