Silverlight Cream for May 27, 2009 -- #601

In this Issue: Erik Mork, Boyan Mihaylov, Tim Heuer, Jesse Liberty, Jonathan van de Veen, Al Pascual, and Jafar Husain.

Shoutout:

If you're interested in Azure and haven't taken the plunge yet (like me), Chris Hay is going to come to our rescue! He's announced My new Azure Book ... congratulations Chris!

I'm a little backed up from all the AZGroups festivities over the last couple days. Since I have a couple submittals, I decided to post them this morning and cut the total I have queued up in half. Hopefully I'll do the other half tonight and then get back on track.

From SilverlightCream.com:
Testing, Module Catalogs and Unity in Prism
Erik Mork is continuing with his development guides and Prism with the latest on testing. Good stuff as expected, Erik!
Creating Rich Data Forms in Silverlight 3 - Validation
Boyan Mihaylov has a great tutorial up on Validation in Silverlight 3 ... plus you can download the source!
Clearing some air in Silverlight, Blend and Visual Studio Beta land
Tim Heuer responds to the beta-rama going on right now, and tries to help us all through the maze... thanks Tim!
On The Bleeding Edge: Where All The Fun Is.
Jesse Liberty creeped me out with the 'bleeding edge' and the straight razor picture :) ... sorta goes along with the ScottGu presentation yesterday, but I digress! ... Jesse takes off on Tim's post (above), and guides us through the beta-rama from his standpoint... all good info and two viewpoints are definitely useful with the mix and match we have going.
Dependency properties and collections combined with XAML
Jonathan van de Veen posts about something he dealt with in his Enterprise Application series, but decided to post separately. He demonstrates from his code how a dependency property is getting accessed sooner than expected and causing trouble... very tricky to find!
Patterns: What is .net RIA Services?
Al Pascual has a post up that's a nice intro to .NET RIA Services... not a big post, but a good description of what you get and a download link.
Better WPF/Silverlight Development in F#: Attached Dependency Properties
There was just a discussion about F# at the AZGroups dinner Monday night, and here Jafar Husain is talking about using F# to write WPF and Silverlight... particularly in the area of Attached Properties using F# Extension Properties ... pretty cool.

Stay in the 'Light!
