Silverlight Cream for May 11, 2009 -- #590

In this Issue: SmartyP, Andrea Boschin, Mike Taulty(2), Tim Heuer, Shawn Wildermuth(2), Jordan Knight, Steve Strong, Ashish Shetty, and Kevin Dockx.

It was a busy weekend, beginning with Friday, so SC's been pretty quiet. Lucikly everyone else has been as well, so the list isn't overly long today :)

From SilverlightCream.com:
Create Circular Rotating Text in Expression Blend
SmartyP has an artle up on Alex Knight's site... he's demonstrating wrapping text around a button this time... and a very nice-looking job it is!
A bit of Physics for an InertialScrollViewer
Andrea Boschin adds some physics effects to the build a Scroll Viewer something like the the UI we've come to accept on the IPhone.
Expression Blend 3: More on Actions, Triggers, Behaviors
Mike Taulty has two posts up (when I checked) and this first is on Actions, Triggers, and Behaviors and after giving some great intro links he moves into a great article about all that!
Expression Blend 3: Trying a drag-and-drop behavior (part 1)
Mike Taulty's second post is then playing with a new Drag and Drop behavior in Blend 3 ... good stuff.
Refactoring Silverlight ChildWindow for a non-modal use
Tim Heuer refactors the ChildWindow box to make it work non-modal. In addition to the discussion, Tim provides the code plus VS templates... wow :)
Debugging Silverlight in IE8 (on Windows 7)
Shawn Wildermuth has two posts up ... this first one is about getting IE8 to get out of our way during debug. Wonder if that's the problem I've been having?? ... have to look into that, thanks Shawn!
Supporting ScreenReaders in Silverlight
Shawn Wildermuth's second offering is a discussion of Screen Readers in Silverlight and how accessible our applications might be... good question!
Silverlight Slider that snaps to rounded value when dragged
Jordan Knight also has a post up ... and very useful it is.. having a slider 'snap' to a value when dragged.. how cool is that?
Beat Box Application - Part 3: Playing Media Elements
Steve Strong has Part 3 of his Beat Box application up .. this time playing media elements. This includes restarting and playing multiples at once.
User-initiated operations in Silverlight
Ashish Shetty discusses in a bit of detail the 5 ways a user can initiate operations in Silverlight.
Silverlight, WCF, WSDL, Proxy, LoadBalancer, IIS & Headaches
Kevin Dockx helps us out in that situation where all our sevices work locally but whoa... NOTHING works on our customer's server.

Stay in the 'Light!
