Silverlight Cream for April 20, 2009 -- #575

In this Issue: Al Pascual, Alex Knight, Jose Fajardo, and Chris Hay.

Shoutout:

Just in case you've been asleep for a while, Bill Reiss has been working on "a community dedicated to free online games built on the Silverlight platform". Check it out: SilverArcade... I just saw a tweet that it is officially launching later this week, so they're calling this a 'pre-launch' ... it looks great, Bill!

Also... I forgot to mention this yesterday, but I made some intrusive changes under the covers on SilverlightCream.com (no I didn't fix the pagin on the Skim pages yet). Other than some cosmetic changes, what I've done isn't visible, however if you see something not working correctly please let me know!

From SilverlightCream.com:
Timers in Silverlight 2.0 and Multithreaded Silverlight.
Al Pascual discusses Timers and multiple threads in his latest Silverlight 2 article, and has some good advice for those that use them.
Animation easing and the "bounce" effect.
Alex Knight posted this easing tutorial in Blend on his SilverZine site, and does the ol' Rolling Gear effect ... wow, I remember that :) ... only his works very nice.
Silverlight 3 Out of Browser - Quick Rant
Jose Fajardo takes a hard look at OOB and doesn't come away impressed... read his post to find out why.
Silverlight: Multiple Http Requests Screencast
Chris Hay continues with his 'video blogging'... this presentation is about multiple HTTP Requests and how Silverlight still has to live inside a browser.

Stay in the 'Light!

Just wanted to say, enjoy your daily links... now my first stop for all things Silverlight. Great stuff, I prefer the digest vs. building my own RSS feed. Thanks again!!!
