Silverlight Cream for March 28, 2009 - 2 -- #556

In this issue: Jesse Liberty, Gerard Leblanc, Seema Ramchandani, Kurt Brockett, Jeff Prosise(2), Public Sector DPE Team, Giovanni Montrone, and Jonathan van de Veen.

This finishes the #MIX09 flood! Todays post has some old links and some very new links and the last of the ones that I attribute to #MIX09. With the links here, I've added 182 posts to the database since #MIX09. There are some interesting collaborations coming up that will make the 3179 database entries more accessible to you... so keep watching :)

From SilverlightCream.com:
Toolkit Control – TimePicker
Jesse Liberty has a great tutorial up on the TimePicker ... this is in the March Toolkit, but you can get to it from Silverlight 2 if you like. Lots of code and screenshots... a very complete run-through!
Master pages, part VI. Progressive download with web service, datagrid, etc. : declaratively specifying downloadable modules
Gerard Leblanc has part VI of his Master Pages journey up as of today... this one is declaratively specifying all modules to reduce wait time for the user... and dang... that code just *works*... :)
Video of "Deep Dive into SL Graphics" is posted
Seema Ramchandani's sessions at #MIX09 were jammed so much that they wouldn't even let you sit on the floor, but here's the code the deck, and you can watch the video in your chair!
New Tile Turn Sample for 3D Mix
Kurt Brockett of blendables reports on a CoverFlow-like sample with the Silverlight 3B Perspective 3D code in it... very nice looking as you'd expect... and you have the code :)
Silverlight 3's New Element Data Binding
Jeff Prosise describes Element to Element binding, shows the xaml and then has a great working example... all wrapped up very nicely.
Silverlight 3's New Local Connections
Jeff Prosise then does the same with local connections showing an app with two Silverlight 3B instances talking to each other.
A MUST READ: Silverlight Deployment Guide
The Public Sector DPE Team posted a Silverlight Deployment Guide by David Tesar. I'm going to add that to my sidebar links for reference.
Securing Silverlight with Custom Forms Authentication
Giovanni Montrone posted this back in January, but submitted it to me this morning :) ... he worked out a way to pass login information back to the hosting asp.net page for authentication. Good external references as well.
Adventures while building a Silverlight Enterprise application part #10
Jonathan van de Veen has part 10 of his Enterprise Application series up and deals with a problem of nested Dictionaries in his DataContract.

Stay in the 'Light!

Hey guys....thanks for the shoutout for blendables. Our 3D Mix is WPF based though, not SL3 :(. Some of the concepts definately can be translated but our core framework is focused on WPF.

Thanks!
