In this Toolkit and .NET RIA Service issue: Martin Mihaylov(3), Dinesh Kulkarni, Shawn Wildermuth, Lee(3), Brad Abrams(3), Ruurd Boeke(2), Jeff Wilcox, Jafar Husain, Ning Zhang, Shawn Burke, and David Anson(2)
Shoutout:
Overwhelmed by all the resources yet? Yeah, me too :) ... I've put 74 entries in the SC database since MIX09. I've got a spreadsheet going with 137 records of data, but that doesn't count todays offerings, but it looks like I AM making headway. I think the idea of doing it on topics was a good way to get the bulk of the new posts out... hang in there, it'll slow down (or I'll need help).
Buried in another post is a PDF of what we've been calling "Alexandria" and is now Microsoft .NET RIA Services
I've been tagging that in the SC database as RIA, and have added a few other tags as well since MIX09, so feel free to submit and search by the new tags, or ask for more in the comments.
From
SilverlightCream.com in no particular order:
- Creating applications with .NET RIA Service Part 1 - Introduction
- Martin Mihaylov has a 3-part (so far) tutorial series going on using the .NET RIA Service. This is part 1 and an intro to the whole deal, explaining the main concepts and nomenclature.
- Creating applications with .NET RIA Service Part 2 - Creating the project
- Martin Mihaylov's part 2 in the series on .NET RIA Service and is simply the "Let's Create a new Project" setup using the new template, with some explanation of what's happening behind the scenes.
- Creating applications with .NET RIA Service Part 3 - Adding DomainService class
- Martin Mihaylov's part 3 is about adding the DomainService class to handle the business logic of the app. This one is, as you'd expect, a bit more involved than the other two.
- .NET RIA Services is now public
- Dinesh Kulkarni talks in broad strokes about the .NET RIA Service, but has a bunch of links out to resources and blogs.
- Concerns about RIA Services Squashed
- Shawn Wildermuth has a great overview with a bunch of links as well.
- Silverlight 3 - RIA Services
- Lee jumps right into code on the RIA Services and demonstrates his results including a couple questions at the bottom
- RIA Services - sample
- Lee then went on to post a sample he worked on and all the code for it, plus discussion he's had with folks about issues.
- What is .NET RIA Services?
- I told you these were in no particular order, and Brad Abrams has an introductory post up that probably should be near the top... with good explanation and links out to other resources.
- Mix09: Building Amazing Business Applications with Silverlight 3
- Brad Abrams posted the source and demo walkthrough of his MIX09 session on RIA Services here.
- Silverlight Toolkit March 2009 released
- Ruurd Boeke announces the new Toolkit release with a short intro to each of the six new controls.
- Accordion, part 1
- Ruurd Boeke then takes off big-time on the Accordion control... if you're trying to work with this and need help, here it is :)
- The Silverlight Toolkit grows up a little with an install experience
- Jeff Wilcox blogs about the Toolkit installer that works not only for VS but also Blend 3 Preview ... the ZIP wasn't a huge deal, but the installer is definitely cooler.
- Writing Your Own Silverlight Chart Series (Part 1): Making Designers Happy
- Jafar Husain talks just a bit about the new tools then jumps into the first part of a tutorial on creating a Stock Series Control ... this would be a great one to 'play along with'
- Silverlight Toolkit Design Time Features: March 2009 Release Update
- If you only have time to peruse one of the intro's, check out Ning Zhang's ... he covers this material in great detail for VS2008 and Blend 2 and Blend 3 and then compares Silverlight 2 and Silverlight 3 experiences.
- Silverlight Toolkit March 2009 Release
- Shawn Burke's post talks about the goals of this release and how customer (that's you and me) concerns were addressed. It's more of a 'what we did' post than a 'what is there' post... interesting stuff though if you want to understand how they get from point A to point B.
- Silverlight Charting remains just a click away - and runs on WPF, too!! [ChartBuilder sample and source code updated for Charting's March 09 release]
- David Anson announced he's already updated his Chart Builder for Sl3 ... dang... where do these guys find the time??
- Silverlight Charting is faster and better than ever [Silverlight Toolkit March 09 release now available!]
- David Anson also found time to write up a greatly-detailed post (including a bunch of code) for the new Toolkit enhancements.
- Getting started with DataForm
- I got this one on the DataForm mixed up in here, but Lee has a 'getting started' post about the DataForm and even threw in some PlaneProjection along the way!
Stay in the 'Light!
