Silverlight Cream for February 14, 2009 -- #517

In this issue: Michael Washington, Laurent Bugnion, Andy Beaulieu, and Dave Campbell.

From SilverlightCream.com:
Silverlight Gantt Chart
Michael Washington sent me a preview of this Gantt chart last week and it's very cool... and not so much that it's a Gantt chart necessarily, but the visualization and data representation, not to mention he gave up the source :)
Simulating IsSynchronizedWithCurrentItem in Silverlight (part 1)
Laurent Bugnion has part 1 of a two-parter on simulating IsSynchronizedWithCurrentItem in Silverlight. This post explains to those of us that only know Silverlight what exactly that gets us... the next one will give us the simulation :)
Data Visualization with Physics
Andy Beaulieu uses Physics to get some extremely cool Data display going ... would be cool to see the next census report look like this :)
You had me from WPF/E 001 - Intro/Install
Dave Campbell ... oh, that's me :) ... I've decided to get back to blogging and am targetting absolute beginners as I always have. I have a lead-in message on my blog

You had me from WPF/E

If you've spent much time at WynApse.com, it doesn't take long to realize that I'm not only a Silverlight Fanatic, but I've been at it since WPF/E.

I've been out of blogging my own material for a while and have a strong desire to get back at it. I like helping folks learn how much fun and how simple it is to get started with Silverlight, and once they get comfortable with the concepts they can go start reading some of the many advanced blog posts out there.

I kicked this idea around with 4 people whose opinions I respect. Two enthusiastically said "Yes -- go for it!". One said detailed tutorials are needed on somewhat narrow technological concepts. The fourth said I should build something really huge a post at a time.

All good information, and the 3rd and 4th may end up being side excursions. SilverlightCream.com, for example, is in drastic need of an overhaul, and what better place to use Silverlight than that ??

But I think I'm going to begin as I began way back... from the beginning. Hopefully I won't be doing these just for my own purposes, but we'll see.

Valentine's Day is a good day to begin a new love, so Happy Valentine's Day to everyone, and welcome to the next step in my relationship with Silverlight. Follow along and it can be yours as well.

The first post is up and is all about where to get Silverlight, how to get started, and where to find some bloggers to follow. A new project in Silverlight will be next, and I haven't thought beyond that yet :)
