I was asked this question (subject) by a friend last week, and have been so busy, I haven't taken the time to respond.. sorry Josh!
I figured others may ask this question as well, and having it in a post might be the way to go.
So if you're just getting ready to attack SIlverlight, where to start?
Obviously Silverlight.net "Getting Started" is the first place. Follow the steps under "Get Started Building Silverlight 2 Applications". You might leave off the Deep Zoom composer at this time, but I'd install Blend 2 even if you think it's overkill right now.
Next is the "Start Learning Silverlight 2" section... start at the top and work your way down. Sometime in the middle of all that you'll start to get ideas of your own, and start taking off on the examples... when you do, submit them to SilverlightCream.com :)
It's funny, my intent was to give a link to Scott Guthrie's post and Jesse's tutorials, and I'd forgotten those were on that page... so it's just one-stop-learning at Silverlight.net!
Stay in the 'Light!
