Last night
Ten of us gathered at Interface Technical Training in downtown Phoenix last night to eat pizza, network, and hear Joel Neubeck talk about his Templated Silverlight Rating Control.
First off, a big Thanks to Interface Technical Training for providing facilities for us and providing pizza and soft drinks.
Joel answered a question and gave us a bit of the background on Terralever, and how they came to be involved in Silverlight games.
He then walked us carefully through the Rating Control code exactly as it is in the download on his blog, explaining the reason behind pretty much everything in there. Then he went on to discuss the ImplicitStyleManager in the new Silverlight Toolkit, and in a couple minutes had added a theme to his Rating control that now displayed Circles in addition to stars. He said that as soon as he catches up to himself, he will add the ISM code to the blog post.
This was a great presentation and relevant to what I see people asking about in the Silverlight arena. Take a look at the blog post, download the code, and build your own control with that as a starting point!
December/January
For those that were not there last night... since our meeting is very early in the month, it makes sense for us to have a December meeting but not a January meeting. I will not be there for the December 3 meeting because I will be freezing my cajones in Montreal, and on that evening will be recovering from my first session at DevTeach Montreal, and busting my rear making sure I'm prepared for two more sessions on the 4th.
As an early announcement, Steele Price has agreed to speak in December and cover at least a portion of the Silverlight Toolkit released last week at PDC. There's a LOT of material on the web about the Toolkit... check it out and come prepared to ask questions and learn from Steele.
You can find all Toolkit articles I've aggregated by going to the SilverlightCream Search Page, selecting the Silverlight Toolkit tag, and pressing search... as always, have fun and ...
Stay in the 'Light!
