Silverlight Cream for September 30, 2008 -- #383

Chris Cavanagh with Actionscript layout library, Martin Mihaylov with Voting control, Bart Czernicki on Dynamic Assembly loading, Peter McGrattan on Duplex Polling, Terence Tsang with FPS Meter, Gerard Leblanc Turning the Page, Robby Ingebretsen on Blend Modes, Greg Schechter on Shader Effects, and Jonas Follesø with an Expression Add-In for Color.

Wow... busy day, is it because of the RC0, or the phase of the moon? I've got 10 plus 2 in this post and another 11 or 12 for this evening, not counting what else may hit!

Congratulations go out to Andy Beaulieu, because Hook Shot takes First!... Andy's game took first place in the TeamZoneSports Silverlight Game Programming contest! Andy has links out to the other winners and other work of his.

The guys at SilverlightShow have a daily 'news' section that sometimes we report the same stuff, sometimes not... it's worth paying attention to both, particularly since we both get submittals.

From SilverlightCream.com:
Silverlayout - Simple Actionscript layout library
Chris Cavanagh posted this more-WPF-than-Silverlight post of a layout library for ActionScript ... I've not done any flash development, but I'm guessing some of you might enjoy this!
Creating a simple Voting control in Silverlight 2
Martin Mihaylov didn't just let his Write and Win contest finish... he wrote a Silverlight Voting control to allow us to vote... you voted, didn't you??? ... anyway, now he is exposing the code for the voting control :)
Silverlight 2 (RC0 / RTM) - Dynamic Assembly Loading Fix
Bart Czernicki explains how you might get involved in a InvalidOperationException if you're loading assemblies dynamically, and explains how to accomplish it successfully.
Silverlight 2 RC0 Polling Duplex Evolution
Peter McGrattan has a couple posts on Polling Duplex with the RC0... this one is more explanatory, but then he gets into the real deal, debugging it: Debugging Polling Duplex on localhost with ipv4.fiddler
Flash vs Silverlight: FPS Meter & Stress Test
Terence Tsang adds a Frame Per Second meter to today's sample so you can figure out how many frames will max out your pc :)... I hate it when I hear that fan winding up!
Turn the page !
Gerard Leblanc demos a totally awesome page turner... fun to just play with, it looks so much like the real thing.... and all the code!
Blend Modes? You’re Soaking In It
Robby Ingebretsen has a great discussion on Blend Modes... I had a really hard time understanding those in Paint Shop Pro... I'm getting better, but this is a great explanation. He also gave up a bunch of references, one of which is next.
Introducing Multi-Input Shader Effects
Greg Schechter has a good blog post on Shader Effects, or as Robby called them Blend Modes. Doing this stuff on the fly is awesome... I'm used to doing it at design-time... this article is WPF, but at this point, so what??
Announcing Colorful Expression Studio Add-In
Jonas Follesø followed Jose Fajardo's lead about giving Expression some love, and has created an awesome Color Add-In for Expression Studio! ... forget worrying about what color goes with what... he's got the Adobe Kulur community stuff built right in... I put this one at the end so you don't have to worry about coming back... 'cuz I know you're going out there now :) ... thanks Jonas!

Stay in the 'Light!
