Silverlight Cream for June 28, 2008 -- #312

Page Brooks' Controls Builder Contest, Alex Knight on Deep Zoom, Dave Relyea on Dependency Property Snippets, and Shawn Wildermuth on 3rd Party Controls.

From SilverlightCream.com:
2008 Silverlight Control Builder Contest
I blogged separately about this, but wanted it to go out in a 'Cream post as well. Page Brooks is putting on a Silverlight Controls contest ... check it out... even if you don't enter, this should be fun!
How to get your Deep Zooms working with Blend.
Alex Knight has been really digging into DeepZoom and in addition to finding a really annoying problem, he elaborates on getting DZ to work with Blend...
Using VS Snippets to Add DependencyProperties and Attached DependencyProperties
Dave Relyea came up with an idea of setting up snippets in VS2008 to help with Dependency Properties ... this has GOT to be one of those things that we all look at and go "hey... why didn't I think of that?"... very cool, Dave!
3rd Party Silverlight 2 Controls
Shawn Wildermuth was asking on Twitter about 3rd party controls and I was wonder why, since of all the folks I know, I think he would be on the short list of devs that could just write one himself... but he was putting the blog post together about the controls that are currently out there, so that all of us would get the benefit of his expertise!

Silverlight Control Builder Contest '08

Page Brooks has been working on this idea for a few weeks and emailed me about this on the 16th... so he's been a very busy guy rolling all this together in that amount of time!

I think this will be fun! Think of the benefit to all of us developers... all the fun controls to play with... plus I'm sure we're going to see some out of the box thinking, so it will be a great way to generate some fun thought processes.

I'm excited about seeing what the submissions look like, and if you want to enter... there's definitely some cool prizes!
