Silverlight Control Builder Contest '08
Page Brooks has been working on this idea for a few weeks and emailed me about this on the 16th... so he's been a very busy guy rolling all this together in that amount of time! I think this will be fun! Think of the benefit to all of us developers... all the fun controls to play with... plus I'm sure we're going to see some out of the box thinking, so it will be a great way to generate some fun thought processes. I'm excited about seeing what the submissions look like, and if you want to enter... ......

Great Auto Repair Shop Service
If you're not in Phoenix, or more particularly if you're not in North Phoenix, Action Auto Repair is probably out of your way, but if it isn't out of the way, you should definitely consider going there for all your work. I've been using Tom and the guys there for at least 10 years, and some of the perks I receive is because of that history, but I think some of it is just the way Tom operates. He always checks my vehicle over to make sure that not only is what I took it in there getting fixed, but ......

Software-Development Meme
Chad Campbell (no relation) called me out in his Meme blog post. I saw his post earlier this week, and have been waiting until I had some time, so here goes... How old were you when you first started programming? I turned my first line of code when I was a Sophomore in college in the fall of 1967, so that would make me 19 at the time. I think I got a C in the Fortran IV class because I just couldn't "get it". This was a large class and programs were done on punch cards batched overnight to some huge ......

6 Month Contract now at 3 years
Today is the day, or maybe it was yesterday, depends on how you look at it. June 13, 2005 I came off being out of work for 2-1/2 months and transitioned from being a win32/PlatformSDK/MFC Guru to being able to find my way around in .NET 1.1/C#/Crystal Reports/MS Access/Oracle. The company that hired me took somewhat of a risk that I could do what I said and when the 6 months was up, the customer bought in for another, then another, etc. and so here we are today banging on the front door of a 4th ......

One Million Page Hits
1,000,000 Yeah, I know tracking page hits is iffy, but I just picked one metric and went with it... it's not the one for marketing guys showing a 'page' hit for every item on the page, and it's not the most restrictive one. I was using the analog stats from December, 2005 to April, 2008, then DiscountASP.net switched me to SmarterStats and I had to find one of the metrics that closely matched what I'd been getting before. Either that or just forget the whole thing! I put WynApse.com up in December ......

If you haven't seen the demos yet, go to Telerik's demo page and prepare to spend some time! I saw this back when it was a demo or maybe an early beta. Silverlight 2 Beta 2 Downloads??
If I understand NDA's correctly, if I were in a beta program, I couldn't tell you. So... that being said, I've seen a download link for the SL2B2 chainer on someone's site this morning. My thought on that is user beware, I don't care what site it's located on. We had our meeting tonight at Interface technical training and had the usual assortment of Rock Stars: Simon Allardice, Dan Wahlin, Steele Price, and Spke Xavier. The band leader, Michael Palermo used the lame excuse of being out of town :) And from what I can tell from Twitter, Tim Heuer is in Mexico City, so didn't make it either.
