If you want the rubber off your truck mirror, come scrape it off my truck
This is definitely not remotely technical, so feel free to just nuke it and go on... but it's something I want to get off my chest :)
The title just about says it all, but here's the deal...
When I go to Costco, Sam's Club, Wal*Mart, *.*Mart, I go in the entrance, and take the very first parking place (farthest from the store) that has at least a couple empty spots around it. I don't have a brand-new vehicle, as a matter-of-fact, that whole question is a sore spot of it's own because I consider it to be the consolation prize for having paid uninsured motorist coverage for all these years. See
this post for that story
. But... what I DO have, I'd like to keep out of the hustle and bustle of people rushing around finding close-up parking places, and heck... I can use the exercise!
So here at my client's facility there are two main buildings. I park about as far from each as I can... that gives me the maximum exercise and the least possibility of someone trying to cram a motorhome into a spot next to me and take off the mirrors or something. I also study the sun/shade patterns and where I park is shaded at 5pm by a BF tree across the street and in Phoenix in the summer, that's important... geez.. it's only May and two days ago it was 110!
I park in a spot that is alongide the main road from building to building... and that's a plan also because they've only stolen something like 15 extended cab pickups off the parking lots here in the last year.
I park pointed South and to my right is a yellowed out no-parking (or driving) area and then a walking area for foot traffic.
Last night when I got on the 101 I noticed my right-side mirror was mal-adjusted... and that sucks in traffic. When I got home I walked around the back and turned the mirror into position, I figured a group of people walked past and someone whacked it with their shoulder or something... not a big deal.
But when I turned, I looked down the length of the truck and the entire outside of the bed has a black line on it. Some a-hole drove in the yellowed out area, cut it too close, whacked his mirror into mine, and instead of stopping and readjusting how close he was, he kept on going and scraped his mirror the length of my truck.
Yeah... it'll come off with some rubbing compound, but WTF...
Ok I'm done now...

Jeff Paries explains his Timeline Infographic, Bill Reiss points us at a SL2 Games contest, and Tim Rule has a Windowing Demo.

Timeline Infographic Deconstructed
I'll have to look to see if I tagged Jeff's Timeline Infographic post as 1.0, but it is... and it's very nice... if you haven't played with it,
look at it here. In his latest post, he gives a nice run-down on the construction thereof.
RIA Run Gallery
Bill Reiss
posted today about his game,
Stack Attack
, that he submitted to this DevX contest. Go play Bill's game and any others that catch your fancy :)
Windowing Demo for Silverlight 2 Beta
Tim Rule has a very cool demo of tiling SL2 windows up on his site, with all the source... play with the demo for a bit, it really works nice.. good job, Tim!
