Silverlight Cream for May 5, 2008 -- #267

Tamir Khason with a WPF article, Jon Davis on SL/Entity Spaces, Nikhil Kothari on Default Commit, Jeff Prosise on Page Turning, David Anson on IValueConverter, and Michael Sync with a Rich Text Editor Demo.

I spent some time in the database yesterday clearing out dead links (that I knew about), and making sure if you selected "Blog" and hit search, you'd only get one of someone. That dropped the total number of articles by a bit, but not much -- 948 this morning, and we now have a valid blogger list (84 total!).

From SilverlightCream.com:
Performance appliance of RenderTargetBitmap
Tamir posted this article this morning, and it's WPF. When I see some good WPF, I like to include it as well. I think we can all learn from WPF, and this is a very cool article about performance while rendering an animation along a path... something I've wondered about with Silverlight.
EntitySpaces and Silverlight Demo
Phoenix' own Jon Davis posts an article about Silverlight and Entity Spaces. Very nice detailed article with source... thanks Jon!
Silverlight Behaviors - Default Commit
First off, I know I have Nikhil's name speld wrong on the site... sigh... I'll fix that tonight. I met Nikhil at the MVP Summit and told him that attending his talk at MIX '07 I understood every word he said, but not one sentence... and dang... I wasn't lying! So when he starts blogging about Silverlight, we should all pay close attention... :) This is a great article about a Behaviour Framework he's put together and has available for downloading. Maybe if I mouth the words as I read them I'll understand what he writes ... stop watching me! :)
Silverlight Page Turning Made Simple
Jeff Prosise ... I've been reading Jeff's work it seems as long as I've been involved in Windows, and seeing him do SL is just too cool. His latest "Wicked Code" column is up on MSDN magazine, and he has a very complete page turn discussion in SL1.0 ... yeah I know, you don't want to do 1.0, but hey... it's good stuff, and it's Jeff... work with me here! Besides, at the end he says he's working on a SL2 version... happy now :) ... oh... all the source is there for the taking!
IValueConverter: The Swiss Army Knife of Bindings
David Anson (Delay) has a very nice article on the IValueConverter... this is small, but I think I need to print it out to refer to... great information. Near the bottom, he demonstrates using the same code in WPF and Silverlight, and hey... those two look the same :)
Silverlight Rich Text Editor (Demo)
Michael Sync put up a very nice demo using the Rich Text Editor that was posted last week. He comments about the lack of comments about the editor... I think we're all still trying to get our heads around it, Michael!... great demo... and great RTE.

Stay in the 'Light!

No, you cannot do it with Silverlight due to fact, that RenderTargetBitmap is security critical and it's impossible to use it from your own code in Silverlight.
