Silverlight Cream for May 03, 2008 - 2 -- #266

Time Rule on Spline-Based Animation, Florian Krüsch with SilverGlobe, Expression Team Blog updates DeepZoom Composer, Jeff Paries releases Tank Combat, and John Gossman on WPF/SL.

From SilverlightCream.com:
Spline Based Animation Helper
I was going to start working my way back in time on Tim's blog, but this is a new article from yesterday, providing a very nice-looking UI for a Spline animation Helper... I gotta tell you... his samples are pretty nice looking. There's some explanation code on the page, but the actual demo is just a demo.. no source :(
Silverglobe
Going backward in Florian Krüsch's blog, I found this link and yikes... this is cool. I tried to do something like this just using graphics a long time ago and it gave me migraines... :) ... this is seriously cool stuff and the source for this is on CodePlex!
An Update to Deep Zoom Composer
The Expression Team blog appears to have changed it's name to Expression Blend and Design Blog, but whatever they're calling themselves, they just gave us an update to the DeepZoom Composer... read all about it in their post and then download for Deeply Zooming fun :)
Silverlight Games - Tank Combat
Jeff Paries has a very nice tank combat game on his site, and you can download an html and xap file to run it local if you like... I tried it, and killed myself ... hmmm... kinda like hiding your own Easter Eggs, isn't it ?? ... fun stuff, Jeff!
Silverlight: the art of subsetting
If you're up for something more serious, check out this post by John Gossman discussing WPF and Silvelright from the standpoint of someone on the architecture team. Ok let me skip to the fun part and I quote: "...in the future, when we add Triggers into Silverlight..." I'm sure that's enough right there for all the SL folks to start the Happy Dance ... enjoy!

Our meetings follow the pattern of a short presentation followed by a break which is then followed by two sets of Open Space discussions.

Anyone can sign up for an Open Space and these can be anything from "How do I ..." to "Help me finish..." or "Look what I did"

There are plenty of experienced people in the group to fill in spots as needed, so don't avoid the meeting thinking you'll be expected to do show-and-tell :)

Come get your questions answered and your engines revved to catch the Silverlight!

Silverlight Cream for May 3, 2008 -- #265

Michael Washington on DNN SL Users, Florian Kruesch with a Triangle control for 3D, Bill Reiss on HSL color, Jaime Rodriguez on Installing SL, Tim Rule with an Inner Glow application, Somasegar on PopFly Game Creator, and Jeff Brand on SL Streaming Content.

I believe I've caught up with myself on Silverlight blogs on SilverlightCream. I haven't cleared out doubles or dead sites yet. If you are not on there and want to be, send me an email!

From SilverlightCream.com:
DotNetNuke Silverlight Users
Michael Washington has an article up on showing site users in a Silverlight Grid that is fed from a WebService, all through the magic of DNN... lots of source and screenshots as usual with Michael's work :)
A Textured Triangle Control for Silverlight 2 - the Basic Building Block for 3D
Forian Kruesch posted this article to me. It's sitting as unedited at Code Project at the moment... looks like a great start for getting going in 3D in Silverlight ... but this stuff makes my head hurt :) ... all source of course... good job, Florian!
HSL Colors in Silverlight
Bill Reiss posted this just about when I was getting ready to write up the blog post... all you have to do is look at the example images he has on that page and you KNOW you want to read the article... good stuff!
Installing Silverlight no longer requires a browser re-start… woohoo!!!
Jaime Rodriguez posts about no longer needing to reboot on a Silverlight Install and tracks it back through the team.
InnerGlow Effect For Silverlight 2 Beta 1
Tim Rule took a shot at all the parameters involved in doing an Inner Glow effect and produced a very nice-looking application. Kind of makes my ReflectionBuilder application look sad :) ... oh yeah... source code!
Popfly Game Creator
Somesegar reports on the PopFly Game Creator if you haven't seen it yet
Cracking the Silverlight Streaming Direct Content Access Code
Jeff Brand has a very cool article up on how to access Silverlight Streaming content without having to go through one of the existing options... great forensics here... definitely worth looking at if you're doing or want to do some streaming!
