Silverlight Cream Modifications April 3, 2008

It's been bugging me that with all the Silverlight that's been flying around, that I am only showing the last 10 entries on the main page. I do agree with Adam Kinney that I need a grid, but yikes... 740 entries and counting is going to be some grid!

I got to thinking since I have the date the entry was added into the database, why not just do a duration of 3 days, subtract it from today, and then pull all entries with DateAdded greater than that value...

So I did that, and then decided to put the date in the display record as well and then carried that date over to the search results page as well.

For now, those two items improve the data display I think... you can see when something was put into the database, and for the home page, you will see 3 days-worth of entries in decending order.

I like it :)

I'm always open to other options, so fire at will!

Silverlight Cream for April 3, 2008 -- #243

John Stockton on a small animation secured inline on a page of text, Martijn Croezen & Rob Houweling have a very nice Texture mapping applcation up, Andy Nogueira has a Silverlight Wrapper Web Part, Michael Sync helps resolve a Silverlight error, Jesse Liberty with Videos on Event Handling, Delay updates ConvertClipboardRTFToolToHTML, Shawn Wildermuth aggregates some SL2 bugs, Pete Brown on XAML Drop-Shadows, and Jaime Rodriguez with an awesome DeepZoom Primer.

I didn't want to make a huge deal out of it because it's me, but I do want to support my friends... so it is with mixed feelings I blog the fact that Erik and Monica Mork at Sparkling Client - The Silverlight Podcast has posted their 8th Podcast and this one is from an interview Erik did of me sitting near the end of the main floor at MIX. I have to admit, I'm very impressed with the work Erik and Monica do... they actually were able to make me sound reasonably intelligent, and for that I'm grateful :) ... Thanks to both of you!

From SilverlightCream.com:
Silverlight 2: Simple Animation
John Stockton returned this morning with a cool little animation that is very subtle on his page. There's more than a little to be learned from this ... the text he's reversing is seamlessly inline with the other text on the page ... very nicely done, John... !
Texture mapping in Silverlight 2
Martijn Croezen & Rob Houweling worked together on this very interesting texture-mapping demo... very nice effect, and interesting to play with, and whoa... they've given up the source!... great job guys!
Silver Part
Andy Nogueira has posted a Silverlight Wrapper WebPart on CodePlex to give you access to Silverlight from MOSS or WSS 3.0 ... very cool!
Tips/Tricks: Problem in using asp:Silverlight control in Silverlight 2 (beta1)
Michael Sync shows how to resolve a problem with Silverlight throwing errors when placed on your page.
Two Part Video on Event Handling
Jesse Blogged this yesterday ... a Two-Part video on Event Handling and go back to his earlier posts on event bubbling (or not)
Updated free ConvertClipboardRtfToHtmlText tool and source code!]
Delay revisits his ConvertClipboardRTFToolToHTML after some readers reported issues... update your download!
Silverlight 2 Bugs and Issues
Shawn Wildermuth is listing out some problems and known bugs in Silverlight 2, just for a place to reference them.
Simple Xaml Drop Shadows in Silverlight 2
Pete Brown revisits his Drop Shadows and I, for one, am glad... I liked them a lot the first time out :)
A deepzoom primer ( explained and coded)..
Somewhere along the way, I had totally dropped Jaime Rodriguez' blog from my list... and that's too bad because it's going to take a while to catch up! ... this post is probably the best DeepZoom tutorial I've seen... VERY detailed... great stuff.. thanks Jaime!
