You've been 'Creamed??

I look at some of the comments made on sites that I blog about, and I see the top x words of my Silverlight Cream blog post about them. I don't directly cause that to happen. To be perfectly honest, I have no idea how it happens :)  so I guess that would be Thanks to GeeksWithBlogs!

I see other comments also, such as "You've been kicked...". Now I know those start out life by someone 'kicking' the post at DotNetKicks, and then at their site, you can also 'Kick' a link to give it a higher rank, and there's also tags on blogs that say "kick it" that does much the same thing.

So from time to time I get to thinking that it would be cool if there was a simple way for someone to 'Cream' a post they thought was good and help me and everyone else in the Silverlight community out by finding links to the Silverlight gems that are hidden out there on the Interweb. I'm not overly interested in the ranking aspect, but I suppose that could be added as well.

I think there's only been a couple times that I've had 3rd-party submittals of links, and if there was an easy way to do that other than dropping me an email, maybe I'd get more.

Right now, my Submittal form is simply an email to me to avoid spam, and a 'Cream this' feature I would think would do the same... send me a link that I could act on.

I'd also like to do this without having logins at SilverlightCream... I'd like to keep it as streamlined and easy to navigate as possible.

If anyone would like to offer up knowledge in this area, I'm open to suggestions... mostly because I'm clueless about how this all works! I'm wondering if a discussion in the SilverlightCream Yahoo group would be a good place, assuming someone out there thinks this might be fun.

Stay in the 'Light!

Hi,

If you didn't know, DotNetKicks is open source:

http://code.google.com/p/dotnetkicks/

You could just install that on a server somewhere and switch out some colours/graphics. It shouldn't be too hard to go into the code and change "kick it" to "cream it"..

Think it'd be a really cool idea to have a Silverlight specific version. Give me a shout if you're interested and would like a hand with anything.
