Cream will continue to flow along with the Eggnog during the holidays, so as you get your fun projects ready for prime time, send them along! In Support of Local User Groups

Yes I'm going to discuss this again, so if you know me personally, or have heard me talk about it before, just click the "Delete" button :) Somewhere around the fall of 2003 I was working for what was essentially a failed dot com. The product was great, but nobody could figure out how to get US banks to buy into it. Maybe someday, but not then, and not even now for the unfortunate folks that are still trying to make it work. I was working from home, elbow-deep in Win32, MFC, platform SDK in C++,...

Get a free copy of ASP.NET AJAX In Action

I have this book, and it's the one that kicked me past the point of wanting to use AJAX and actually doing so... good stuff, a good read, and on-topic. I haven't read it all. I took potshots where I looked for information to get the job done, and even reading that way, it worked! So go over to Encosia, and follow the instructions to try to win one of the 3 copies Dave is giving away. The 'first comment' is undoubtedly gone by now, but there's two others up for grabs... trust me, you won't be disappointed...

Frank of Frank's World has produced the first (that I'm aware of) Silverlight Christmas Card. From SilverlightCream.com: Frank's World Christmas 2007 I've been wondering if we'd start to see some of this going on this year. In the past I've seen many Flash animation cards. I'm not creative enough to do something like the flas ones, but Frank has bridged the gap :) Stay in the 'Light! One 'Light Year

One year ago today I blogged my first 'article' on WPF/E. WPF/E CTP'd on December 4, 2006. I didn't see it until the 6th. I read about it and was confused, but I kept going back to it, and kept playing with the QuickStart. Finally I started to catch on and thought there may be something to all this. I got to go to MIX '07 in May 2007, and WPF/E became Silverlight and exploded all over the web. On July 1, I was awarded MVP: Visual Developer - Client Application Development, 'nuff said! I'm sitting...

Rick Barraza at CynergySystems, fresh back from winning PhizzPop, posts a very nice Custom Animation tutorial From SilverlightCream.com: Dirty Dozen #03: Custom Animations This is *way* cool to watch... I haven't looked at the code yet, but it's definitely there! The only negative comment I could possibly make is it wants to run IE and FF as hard as possible. Congratulations on the PhizzPop Win! Now Why Don't He Write?

That's a great line from "Dancing with Wolves". Robert Pastorelli delivered the line about a skeleton that was found: "I'll bet someone back east is going, Now why don't he write?" In trying to answer a question on the Silverlight.net forum, I went to my site as a reference, and found something that didn't work. Hmmm... so then I tried another page and found more 'somethings' that didn't work. I get quite a few visitors a day, and nobody has written to say anything about that Apparently I'm going...

Fayez Mutairi This One's For You!

I received email from Fayez Mutairi, and he asked "Have you ever seen your blog posts in a web browser"? ... ummm... maybe not, or obviously not in a manner that looked bad I was reading his email on my cell phone, and obviously couldn't see the very detailed images he sent me (thanks -- I did later!). Apparently whatever Mr. Mutairi is using for reading my feed isn't dealing well with my fake XAML titles on my Tooltips -- too bad, I thought they were clever :) So... I have changed them all to remove...

If you're having trouble figuring out where the borders of your canvas are while playing with XAML, or where the horizontal center really is at run-time, this Tooltip might help. Friday Interview Follies/Silverlight Firestarter/2.0

Rant warning... just click on to the next! I don't know why I punish myself sometimes... I mean I'm *not* looking for a job, I'm *not* looking to leave where I am. It's a good 'showup job' as my buddy Steve says, and close enough to the technology edge that it feels good, not to mention it pays well. The only negative is the hour+ it takes to drive 27 miles on the Outer Loop. After some email banter back and forth with some Silverlight guys, I kinda/sorta backed myself into a phone interview that...
