Silverlight Cream for October 26, 2007 -- #113

Gwynn Kruger discusses what's easy and what's difficult about drag/drop in Silverlight 1.1; Justin-Josef Angel provides us all with Hebrew and Arabic language support for Silverlight 1.1; Jesse Liberty discusses the differences between declarative and programmatically produced XAML; and laurence Moroney proposes caching downloader data for reuse.

From SilverlightCream.com:
Drag and drop so easy my grandma can do it
Gwynn Kruger has a nice little Silverlight 1.1 drag article, with some good information including problems he's not yet addressing, with code :)
Silverlight 1.1 Hebrew and Arabic Language Support - SilverlightRTL
Justin-Josef Angel has been busy working on Hebrew and Arabic language support for Silverlight 1.1, and from the looks of the article and pictures, he's accomplished it! Code included at CodePlex, and even a webcast of the entire process!
Creating XAML Objects in Code
Jesse Liberty compares building XAML declaratively or programmatically and finishes with a link to a video exploring all of this.
Zero to Hero: Using the Browser Cache in Silverlight
Laurence Moroney discusses caching the results of the downloader object for reuse.

<SilverlightTooltip Number="005" Text="Install Issues"/>

I'm still getting email about getting Silverlight installed on workstations. I don't know if all of the folks that write are ones that had WPF/E on their systems and are having problems similar to mine with my laptop, or if these are genuine new issues.

As I say in the Tooltip, the absolute best place to start is in the Silverlight.net Forums, but if you've been pounding on this problem yourself and want to take a look at some forum links I've grabbed, these may help.

Read my fifth Tooltip to view the links and try to get the 'Light turned on :)

Silverlight DevCamp DC -- just 1 more week!

No, I'm not going to be there :( But told Frank I'd give a shout-out when time got close!

So, if you're going to be anywhere near DC, don't miss it... it certainly looks like it will be a good time!
