Shortly after I opened SilverlightCream.com, Andrew Duthie suggested I use WorldMaps for my counter/map. I looked at it and liked it a lot.
I had entered my Latitude/Longitude for 'future' enhancements. In a post by Andrew last week, he showed what one of the future enhancements is ... a mashup between VirtualEarth and the existing WorldMaps displays.
If you click on my map image in the lower left sidebar of WynApse.com, you'll get to this page. This all by itself is very cool, and I like how I can see the names of places that folks log in from. If you tack "v2" onto the end of "WorldMap" in that link, you'll get the mashup which now has a link for "Virtual Earth".
I was interested in where the 5 people may be located that are within 10 miles of my house that are listed on the report. I can see friends that have logged in from other states, I can drill into my brother's backyard :) But wait ... if I can do that... then anyone looking at this can also find "Site Owner" .
Hmmm ... So I reset my Latitude/Longitude to be somewhere in the vicinity of my house, but not really there.
For instance, today I appear to be living at one of the holes on a small golf course in a gated mobile home community... which by itself is an interesting combination of words :) I've already scouted out a few fun locations within a small radius of my house, and I think I'll 'relocate' myself now and again just for fun ... sort of like the WynApse Protection Program.
