Distributed Denial Of Service Attack is Back :( -- Or NOT -- looks like a DNS failure

If you'll notice my post from this morning about Tutorial 07 has a red X for the graphic. That's because my site is unnaccessible again. As is DiscountASP.NET.

I understand it's not their problem, and I'm sympathetic to the issue, but it's not helping me or other folks that are hosted there.

It's ok boys, we get it, "all our base are belong to you"... now go back to playing video games and let us all get back to work!

Well... it appears to be alive now... get 'em while they're hot...

I stand corrected on this... from my chair it appeared the same as the DDOS attack, but have been told it was a DNS failure... that's good... well, not good, but better than another DDOS!

DiscountASP.NET says that one of their DNS servers went down this afternoon (and was replaced while troubleshooting progresses), but nothing about a new DDoS spree. http://daspstatus.com/

Full Disclosure: I do work for DiscountASP.NET. We were under a massive DDOS attack off and on for 2 days in June 2007. We did post in our community forum (http://community.discountasp.net) about what happened. To mitigate the attack, we did use an enteprise-class DDOS mitigation service, Prolexic, who is also used by many fortune 500 companies, major ISPs, news sites, and even by other countries. Now our hosting platform is strengthened even more.
