Distributed Denial Of Service Attack is Back :( -- Or NOT -- looks like a DNS failure
If you'll notice my post from this morning about Tutorial 07 has a red X for the graphic. That's because my site is unnaccessible again. As is DiscountASP.NET. I understand it's not their problem, and I'm sympathetic to the issue, but it's not helping me or other folks that are hosted there. It's ok boys, we get it, "all our base are belong to you"... now go back to playing video games and let us all get back to work! Well... it appears to be alive now... get 'em while they're hot... Silverlight WIth Java Script [Beta 01] Tutorial 07
Taking a look at Interactive Animation in Silverlight, we see that at least from the standpoint of the xaml, it's simpler to code than the 'normal' animation of Tutorial 06. There is a big advantage to this simplicity though... control! I also cover modifying animation properties at run-time which seems to be a recurring theme on the forums. I demonstrate changing the text of the animation and the text color. Have fun! Stay in the 'Light! Silverlight Web Articles I've tagged and My Silverlight Articles ......

Denial Of Service Attack -- Continues into Friday June 22 PM now
Thanks to the "little boys with too much time on their hands" DiscountASP.NET was hit with a Massive DOS attack yesterday. It wasn't just for a period of time because pretty much everything was down sometime mid-morning until around noon, and again late in the evening until I don't know when. Any email sent to me may or may not have arrived, and of course my site was unavailable. At the peak, the attack was running the equivalent of 667 T1 lines! The chances of catching the perpetrators are slim... ......

Silverlight With Java Script [Beta 01] Tutorial 06
This was a hard Tutorial to write because I'm trying to do an introduction to Silverlight Animation, and by nature that is going to be difficult. There are many variations, objects, and parameters that can all interact. I tried to keep this as small as possible to keep the confusion factor down, so Tutorial 06 only discusses non-interactive animation, and I'm only animating one object. I have a link to the Microsoft Silverlight SDK near the top of the page. Use that as a reference as well, keep it ......

Silverlight Tutorial Comments June 12, 2007
During an email exchange with someone trying to work from my Tutorials I realized a couple things, neither of which can be dealt with prior to very late tonight, and very possibly tomorrow night. HTML Source I included the HTML source in the first tutorial, but have not done that in the others. The 'assumption' is that the HTML is identical, with only the xaml changing, but you know what they say about assumptions :) So, I will include the complete HTML on the Tutorial pages as well. Silverlight With Java Script [Beta 01] Tutorial 01
Admittedly there are other Silverlight Tutorials available, and of course there is the QuickStart delivered with the SDK. I'm seeing some of the same questions asked again and again on the forums and at the same time seeing Silverlight presented in 'basic' tutorials with AJAX and Visual Studio all merged together. That's one way to do it, and is certainly a good user experience, but in my mind muddies the water for a good developer experience trying to get his/her arms around Silverlight. To that ......
