Day 2? ... wow... where did Day 1 go?
Well... it went in a blur of Silverlight, that's where!
All this is all over the web already and the presentations are even available, but if you've been sleeping behind a rock for the last 24 hours... come out now! The keynote was pretty much Silverlight. Amazing presentations by many people and organizations, and one thing that everyone learned really early yesterday was that if you want to go to a Silverlight breakout session, get there 20 minutes early unless you plan on standing in the back. Joe Stegman's JS + Silverlight talk was so packed, it ran again late yesterday!
Silverlight isn't your Uncle Fred's WPF/E anymore... If you choose to go with Alpha code, you can program in the .NET language of choice. LINQ is no problem... so that makes reading/writing XML a breeze. How about loading XAML from a zip file?
It will take weeks to assimilate all this, not to mention how long it's going to take to rework all my existing Silverlight code to use the Beta 1.
The good news is that if you DON'T install the Beta 1, everything I have out here now will work as it always has. The bad news is that when either you or I unload the February CTP and load up the Beta 1, then it's broken.
It's not possible to have twin paths, at least not locally, so I suppose I will support both sets of files until I have them all switched.. not sure how long that will take.
Then I have another question to answer and that is do I start to embrace the Expression suite, .NET and LINQ? ... oh man, choices, choices... how can you pass up all that?
Meanwhile, go to the Silverlight Community and read-up ... the technology is changing again, so jump on-board!
