Silverlight Single Storyboard Test
While answering a couple posts on the Silverlight Forum, I built a small test program that I thought would be useful to share. This demonstrates how to manage using the same Storyboard for animating multiple objects. It's actually very simple once you see it done! Silverlight Intuitive Drag and Drop
Silverlight Beta 1 gave us the ability to set the ZIndex, but some investigation of how it actually works on a canvas is useful to get the result you might expect: Things don't always work like you expect, and as in many other instances, forewarned is forearmed. I included 3 canvases to show examples of the issues I worked through getting it to work the way I wanted. Silverlight Web Articles I've tagged and My Silverlight Articles ......

Final Silverlight Beta 1 Conversion! -- Animated menu
This has been *way* too long in coming, but I finally have all my Silverlight pages now functional in Beta 1. The last hold-out was the Animated Menu: I have a new Beta 1 piece ready to write up, and will hopefully get that on-site tomorrow and then I will look at making modifications to this menu system using some of the new features available to me in the Beta. At this point, it is simply a conversion of the February CTP code over to operate under Beta 1. One change I had made and reversed was ......

100,000 Pages Served
My stats as of midnight last night when I hit 100,745: It doesn't take much to see that the positive slope on the line began mid-December which went along with the December CTP of WPF/E, and then in January Mike Harsh blogged about my site, and from there it's just been crazy riding the Silverlight wave. I'm pretty pleased with the direction things have gone and happy that folks are coming back, so Thank You for reading my ramblings! Silverlight Rectangles, Paths, and Lines 'puzzle' converted to Beta 1
The Rectangles, Paths, and Lines 'Puzzle' from the end of April has been converted to Beta 1: This was simply a drop-in, but does have an interesting part... the puzzle still exists in Beta 1. I think the solution is just to keep in mind how this works as we move forward. This is the last of the 'simple' pages. My Blue-Bar animated menu remains with all the JS and XAML it entails ......

Finally! -- Two more Silverlight Beta 1 Conversions - Reflected CountDown and createFromXaml
I got delayed somewhat messing with the onLoad and Load= issues surrounding the Glyph Map Utility, but I do have two more of my pages converted that were originally done with the February CTP in early March, 2007: The MIX 'Sidebar' Countdown Timer is past it's shelf-life and I removed it from my site, but the reflection of the time as it's counting down is still pretty cool. Silverlight GlyphMap Utility used to find Loaded= problems in Firefox... and maybe in IE
This is essentially a duplicate of a message I just posted to the Silverlight Forum. I haven't seen any discussion on this, and there's at least one other person asking about problems with "Loaded=" in Firefox, so I thought I would post it here and see about raising the visibility a bit. I've had multiple reports of my GlyphMap Utility not working in Firefox after my Beta 1 conversion. I've actually been able to make it NOT work on IE6 as well and just before posting this, it failed in IE7, but not ......

Silverlight GlyphMap Application converted to Beta 1
The next page to convert, going by date was a demo I put up on February 21, 2007, and is a "GlyphMap" utility as shown here: This one was only difficult to convert because the code and xaml is somewhat involved. The normal 'plumbing' came into effect as well as some interesting animation things having to do with the slide-out menus. I believe it's all working, but let me know if you find something that isn't. I've got 4 different 'ding' fonts displayable, 3 'skins', and a non-skinned version running. ......

Silverlight GLyph Explorer Converted to Beta 1
Originally written February 17, 2007, I've upgraded this to use the Beta 1 control. There were no surprises with this, just plumbing and normal changes such as removing "javascript:", or modifying args.x as I've discussed in previous conversions. Some of the issues are still in Beta 1 apparently, such as the ability to take a mouse hit on a Glyph. If you look at the exposed xaml, the checkbox canvas contains the MouseLeftButtonDown. That canvas includes the glyph and the text, yet only the text launches ......

Reflected Video Demo Converted to Silverlight Beta 1
I apparently ran out of gas after the conversions I did on Saturday, because I didn't work on this at all yesterday :( I have, however, converted one page this morning, and that is the Reflected Video: You should also go to the Mix Sessions Site and view Mike Harsh's "Deep Dive on Media Integration" session. Two more Silverlight February CTP to Beta 1 Conversions
I'm finishing off the day with 2 more conversions: Rolling the Silverlight Gear Animation By Michael Schwarz Silverlight Reflection Builder The Reflection Builder, for all it's size and moving things around with the mouse... turned out to be a drop-in... just plumbing issues. Rolling Michael's Animated Gear was a bit more work, however. This one had me going to the SDK to figure out how to use the new <Canvas.Resources>, so might be worth a look. It hits me now that I left Bryant Likes' great ......

First of my Silverlight Beta 1 Conversions -- including the Home Page
OK I lied... I didn't do my Home Page last for two reasons: I hated NOT seeing the Silverlight Logo spinning on the sidebar I definitely did not like the JS errors it was throwing from February CTP support code So... first I did the really simple ones... my first 3 html pages from December 12, 2006 summarized on this page. I modified the text a bit, but the Beta 1 bits were just about a drop-in. After reading Bryant Likes' post and other material he referenced, I decided to hack on into this. I seem ......
