Fixed the Blog, added to the WPF/E files
I was right, a try/catch around the whole LoadChannel and associated code resolved the BlogRoll problem. If it fails, I display a blank, and you can see that there's now two of them.
As for the WPF/E files, I've played with them some more, and I will still put them up in a better display mode, but it's coming together a bit:
Page 01
- If you left-click on any object, an alert box will pop up showing the xaml that produced it. Remember objects are layered, so you'll see the xaml for the top one.
Page 02
- No change to this, was playing with text and stretching/clipping graphics.
Page 03
- This one has been through a few changes... the video is now clipped to an oval with an oval frame. I repositioned the buttons from the tutorial, and played with objects moving in multiple directions. Start/Stop/Pause all work on the objects as well as the video.
When I open up a WPF/E page on my site, I will display all the xaml all commented up for any that are interested.

My BlogRoll appears to be brittle, but I've been playing with WPF/E
In an incredibly lame moment, once I got the BlogRoll code running, I did the happy dance, formatted it the way I liked it, smacked it on the hind quarters and called it done.
I suppose my thought process at the time was "hey... it's for me, and if it doesn't work exactly right, I can fix it later". I have made some "later" fixes, but one that I totally missed was what if one of the sites I'm rolling up pukes...
And yes, that's what's happened today. At least for a time, Nikhil Kothari's web site is down, so therefore his blog is down and apparently also his syndication, and hmmm... I guess someone forgot to try/catch or whatever to avoid the BlogRoll also puking... sort of like error bubbling.
So I'll just bask in the wonderfulness of my reformatted content pages, and maybe point out my playing around with WPF/E:
Page 01
- playing with the first part of the tutorial, shapes/opacity/gradients
Page 02
- Continuing in the tutorial with text and placing/stretching graphics
Page 03
- animation, including a wmf file with the controls from the tutorials. I would like to clip outside the oval and the left blue circle was animated until I tried to get a 2nd one going the other direction, ran out of time and just uploaded... it's a start.
I'm going to put these pages up as 'content' pages on my site hopefully this weekend, and display the xaml as I go.
