Updating an xsd file... why does Crystal Reports ALWAYS kick my Axx??

I just don't get it, I guess that's an understatement, but all I did was add one simple text field to one table in a schema, and I'll be danged if I can figure out the right combination of incantations to get it to show up in my Field Explorer so I can paste it into the report.

I'm fairly certain I've done all the steps in just about any order I can think of:

  • deleted the xsx and cs files associated with the xsd
  • have the box checked "Generate Dataset" (right-mouse menu on the xsd layout)
  • save the xsd to generate the xsx file
  • rebuild to generate the cs ... hmmm... wonder if I should clean first... didn't matter, the cs file was there after the save, clean and rebuild didn't help though
  • took a walk and came back... didn't help
  • grrr
  • Going to eat lunch... this is *way* more difficult less intuitive than it needs to be
