Updating an xsd file... why does Crystal Reports ALWAYS kick my Axx??

I just don't get it, I guess that's an understatement, but all I did was add one simple text field to one table in a schema, and I'll be danged if I can figure out the right combination of incantations to get it to show up in my Field Explorer so I can paste it into the report.

I'm fairly certain I've done all the steps in just about any order I can think of:

  • deleted the xsx and cs files associated with the xsd
  • have the box checked "Generate Dataset" (right-mouse menu on the xsd layout)
  • save the xsd to generate the xsx file
  • rebuild to generate the cs ... hmmm... wonder if I should clean first... didn't matter, the cs file was there after the save, clean and rebuild didn't help though
  • took a walk and came back... didn't help
  • grrr
  • Going to eat lunch... this is *way* more difficult less intuitive than it needs to be

Odd Driving pattern, but whoa, it's a cop!

I'm concerned this morning that someone may have stolen a Scottsdale Police car because the guy that was driving South on the 101 just before 8 this morning didn't appear to be driving like any Police Officer I've ever seen.

We were doing about 70 I guess... just a big mass of cars rolling South when a police car came up on my right in the middle lane. I didn't see him coming, so I guess he came over from the right-most lane. There's no HOV lane on the 101, at least not that part of it, so I was in the left-most lane. He squeezed between me and the car ahead of him in the middle lane, not a lot of room, but of course I backed off and looked down to see I was doing exactly 65 at that point. I thought maybe he was going after someone, but he had pretty much boxed himself in behind the car that had been in front of me.

At that point, he put on the brakes... pretty hard actually. Didn't SLAM them, but we ended up doing 45 and I backed way off not knowing what he was doing. Cars were just pouring past us in the other two lanes and getting backed up behind me. I just stayed there not knowing what was up.

All of a sudden he's jamming it, got up to about 70, then pulled reasonably aggressively between two vehicles in the middle lane, then really fast into the right-hand lane right on the butt of a little car taking the Indian School exit. I mean he was RIGHT on that guy's rear. Didn't light him up, it was just the way he was driving!

I moved to the middle lane to get setup to exit at McDowell, and was watching to see if he was going to pop back out of the Indian School off-ramp, but I never saw him again before I exited.

Just too weird... what was the slow down to 45 mph about? If he had gotten a call to exit when he did, he could have turned on his lights, but that still doesn't account for the agressive way he pulled in front of me, and getting a call at that moment, while possible, seems suspicious.
