I was testing .NET 4.5 compatibility in LINQ to Twitter when I encountered an IOException with the message: “The specified registry key does not exist.” This occurred during a call to System.Net.WebRequest.Create().

This is something that happened after a Windows update, kb2745030. Since this is a security issue, you’ll want to read Microsoft’s article and make your own determination on what to do. Someone has already reported the issue on Connect with a work-around similar to the Microsoft Kb article, WebRequest.Create eats an IOException on the first call.
