I’ve been spending the last couple of weeks working on our company website.  We are trying to get more exposure to grow our consulting presence.  Visit our site (www.xcis-software.com) and let me know what you think.

Also, if you are in the Houston, TX area and are in need of experienced consultants, we would be glad to hear from you.  Check out the site for more details.

Overall, I think your site looks very nice, professional, and polished. Perhaps the gradient in the background was a little ackward but that was it.

It was interesting to note which features were probably implemented using the ajax toolkit versus using images, etc. I probably would not have used the tookit for the rounded corners on a professional external website because a user can see them render. Sometimes, they are a really good option for an internal site as they can be quicker than using small bitmaps or bunches of CSS.

Those controls can be tricky on multiple browsers. Did you go ahead and run the page against the major popular browsers, perhaps a downlevel browser, and a good CSS/HTML validator? I assume you probably did but with Javascript, you should always make sure.

I think the weakest point of the site was probably content. If I was looking to hire, I would probably want to know what type of work you had specifically done in the past and have it more readily highlighted. Given that you are a small shop, I might have added more of a personal touch and had some profiles on some of your top people, etc. Nothing too personal but enough to make them come across as people who really care about the clients and the work.
