High speed Broadband anyone? (at least for London - sorry)
Hold that thought on Force9, just like Buses, you wait for an age an then along come two of them...."Londoners are being offered the chance to hook up to superfast broadband for just £20 a month as part of a trial for local loop unbundling (LLU) by operator Be."The ISP wants "as many people as possible" to sign up to the trial ahead of a commercial launch later in the month. The service - based on ADSL2+ technology - is able to deliver speeds of up to 24 meg.And what's particularly tempting ......

Orange offers cut-price broadband - £9.99/month for 2Mb
A quick check at both Wanadoo and Orange's web sites show this hasn't been posted yet but that's not a suprise. I'd also suspect that it will be capped at 2Gb. Now if you'd like a 2Mb Service that's uncapped for £14.99/month then head over to Force9 ;-) So far it has been a bit like Ronseal - it does what it says on the Tin!More at http://www.theregister.co.u... ......

Skype Beta 1.2 for Pocket PC available - now also with voicemail support
Well the title tells the story really, saw this over at MSMobiles, makes me wonder if we're not far away from having this available on the new Windows Mobile 5.0 SmartPhone Devices? Or is it really going to be necessary on a device that is a phone in the first place? I think that with the speed of which VoIP is starting to entrench itself in the consumer market it will only be a matter of time before this becomes a reality. Mobile Technology Reaching Mass Adoption in UK Retail Sector
Directly from Jason Lagridges Weblog: I participated last week in a series of press briefings around some research that we (Microsoft) did with Martec International to investigate the growth of mobile solutions in Retail.Whilst in 2004, only 28% of the UKs leading retailers had adopted or planned to adopt mobile technology [1] , less than a year later the Mobility in Retail 2005 Survey reveals that mobile solutions are now being used or are planned for use in-store by 83% of respondents. You can read ......

WatchGuard and Citrix have teamed up to provide mid-market SSL VPN for Secure Remote Access? Really?
So you do your best to keep an eye on what’s going on – especially in your particular specialist area – and so when you do get a chance to read one the popular IT Magazines like ITWeek you don’t expect too many suprises. Sure, Symantec has bought Sygate, already saw that in theregister.co.uk a few days ago, HP leaks details of next generation iPaq’s (HW6700 series), yawn old news, WatchGuard and Citrix teamed up to provide mid-market SSL VPN for Secure Remote Access, ......

Citrix Presentation Server for Windows Server 2003 x64 Editions - Performance and Scaling Capability Document
I use my "myCitrix" logon credentials on the Citrix Support page, here you can sign up for alerts to new Hotfixes and articles. Today on Sunday there have been over 120 released (I wonder whose job it is to release these on a Sunday?) although the vast majority of them have been for the Japanese versions, but the article below was worth wading through and deleting all the others. Orange reveals M5000 3G smart phone
And just appearing on one of my favourite sites for IT related News TheRegister.co.ukhttp://www... But of possibly more interest to me was this interesting snippet:The Universal is expected to ship late Q3, HTC said in June. In the meantime, Orange is expected to launch the M3000, a more compact (10.8 x 5.8 x 2.3cm) version of the M5000, based on HTC's Wizard handset. Wizard does not support 3G, but it does provide quad-band GSM/GPRS connectivity. It also ......

Citrix and Google
I guess most of us dealing with Citrix Issues on a regular basis have just come to accept the fact that Citrix just doesn't allow the Google Bots access to their systems, and certainly not the Support Knowledgebase, and as a concequence I do tend to save a lot of their information locally and mine it with Google Desktop. Chatting to one of the Citrix Support staff yesterday it would appear that there may be a change on the way. In the past iteration of the Citrix Forum it was quite clear that it ......

Citrix Advanced Access Control 4.0 - Technical Overview
It's taken a while but it's now getting easier to see how Citrix will be defining how they integrate the older MSAM product with the Net6 hardware Appliance. As you look through the details towards the end of this Powerpoint you can see how it seems Citrix will be pitching the concept of either continuing to use your existing (if you have one of course?) CSG (Citrix Secure Gateway) that fronts for your Web Interface 3.0/4.0 and then deploying this Advanced Access Control Server in the LAN behind ......

Having trouble finding the right information to TroubleShoot Citrix Issues?
Never underestimate the amount of information contained in the PowerPoints, have a look through the following selection and pay particular attention to the additional notes underneath each slide. If you are lucky enough to be just using one PC and not bouncing around customers sites all the time then perhaps consider saving these files locally and then installing the Google Desktop so that you can include your local stash when searching for possible answers to your Citrix Issues?Citrix Enterprise ......

Citrix Access Gateway - Update to 4.1.2
There is a new update available for the Citrix Access Gateway Also be aware that the Admin Interface does change significantly from 4.0 to 4.1, it would appear on the surface of it that 4.1 was a bit "buggy" so it might be a better idea to try the 4.1.2, although as usual, your mileage may vary ;-)) http://support.citrix.com/k... orhttp://support.citrix.com... The HTC Galaxy?: HTC will not produce its own Pocket PC phones with built-in GPS
Now this is rather interesting from MSMobiles, I was already aware of the HP iPaq 6500 series having GPS built-in, but I was not aware that this was actually being built by HTC on behalf of HP. It certainly looks like HTC can't fail at the moment in the device side of things? I'm personally more sold on the SmartPhone size and format, and will always prefer giving up some features and screen real estate for the much smaller form factor and convenience. Still on Smartphones - details...
Although I'm not a huge fan of this model by Samsung - simply by virtue of the aerial - I am very impressed with the detail of this review by MobileTechReview. Of particular note is the comprehensive benchmarking of the performance stats, I believe this will be come more relevant as speeds and capacities increase within the SmartPhone market. Don't forget that some of us poor saps used to have to fix File Servers for a living that had less memory and processor than some Mobile Phones have now.... ......
