Request for Speakers:  New Horizons of MN MindSurf 2008 Conference

An Educational Wave of Technology, People and Ideas
When:  Tuesday, October 28, 2008
Location: The Westin in Edina

If you are interested in speaking, please contact Brandy Favilla (bfavilla@nhmn.com or 952-896-6834) for a full "Request for Speakers" application packet.  Speaking slots are not based on sponsorship levels, so everyone is encouraged to submit one or more topics for consideration. 

What is MindSurf?
New Horizons of MN excited to bring you a new opportunity to educate, inform and build connections in our local business community.  MindSurf 2008 will provide up-to-date information, education and resources on the latest developments in business trends and technologies for Business Analysts, Project Managers, Business Decision Makers and Design, Web and Media Specialists.

The one-day event includes:
•Keynote Address
•28 Conference Sessions
•Exhibit Hall

To make this a successful event within this community, we are currently taking applications for speaking positions for this conference.  Submitting an application for a slot is not a guarantee that your topic will be chosen, but all applications will be considered.  A panel of judges will make the final selections and build the conference schedule accordingly.  This event will be widely promoted in all of New Horizons of MN classes, through the work force centers, and in print and online media.

Tracks for this conference include:
•Business Analysis – Topics can include but are not limited to: Requirements Gathering, Negotiating for Success, Managing Vendors, Where BA stops and PM begins, Resolve Team Conflicts
•Business Soft Skills – Topics can include but are not limited to: Effective Communication, Leadership, Resolve Team Conflicts, Lead Effective Meetings, Powerful Presentations
•Microsoft Office Business Intelligence Tools – Topics can include but are not limited to: MS SQL Server Reporting Services, Dashboards and KPI, SharePoint, Excel Services
•Microsoft Office Tips and Tricks – Topics can include but are not limited to: Office Online Templates, Word Tips and Tricks, Excel Tips and Tricks, PowerPoint Tips and Tricks
•Web Design and Media – Topics can include but are not limited to: Image Optimization, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, Silverlight
•Print Design and Media – Topics can include but are not limited to: How to communicate with print vendors, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, What are the desktop publishing tools out there and what are the differences
•Project Management - Topics can include but are not limited to: Resolve Team Conflicts, Lead Effective Meetings, Plan, organize and document projects, PMI Certification

As the new, premier education event for Minnesota’s business professionals, New Horizons of Minnesota’s goal for MindSurf is to draw in 300-350 people, including event staff, vendors, sponsors and attendees. With its variety of content and sessions, the event is for anyone involved with or interested in business skills and technologies.
