Today's meeting topic: O Brave New World! How the Corporate Learning Ecosystem is Evolving
Presented by Allison Anderson
This presentation offers a glimpse into the ecosystem learning model which is transforming the way Intel approaches corporate learning. We'll look at how we've traditionally approached learning, the way people are really learning, and the new ways we plan to adapt to these natural learning styles. How do we connect people with content, with experts, and with each other in order to create a collaborative, participatory learning environment? How will this impact the role you play as a learning professional?
Notes:
"Having exceeded the limits of what any of us can understand on our own, we turn to our collective intelligence to survive" -Jay Cross
She brought this phrase up to the group because she wants to emphasize that she doesn't have all of the answers and will often turn the question over to the audience to get their feedback.

Research and analysis
The learning organization provides structured, formal learning options. Learning is delivered to employees in a one size fits all effort.
What's really happening is...
I search for information electronically. Sometimes I find something.
I talk to my collegues in cibues, in the cafe, on the phone, via IM, I ask my manager
I try to remember who I"ve talked to before, who I know through my communicty of practice, who my teammate said was "great with that sort of thing"
I look for subject matter experts
I try things out
I take online classes. Somethings I go to a class in a classroom, or participate in an online seminar
I shouw someone else how to do it.. .if they ask
I learn via the teams I'm on, the research I do, the places I go
How do I learn?
I communicate
I collaborate
I participate
This was my learning ecosystem.
Why "Ecosystem"?
Ecosystem: a community of organisms together with their physical environment, viewed as a system of interacting and interdependent relationships.
ALTERED Slightly:
Learning Ecosystem: A community of employees, peers and experts together with compelling, dynamic content viewed as a system of interacting, challenging and interdependent relationships.
Traditional Corporate Learning - The learning organization provides structured, formal learning options. Learning is delivered to employees in a one size fits all effort.
Corporate learning ecosystem: IN addition to formal learning options, employees interact with peers, with resources, and with experts in order to share best practices

You can put all of this out there, but how do you get them to actually participate? This is one of those that
I want to make sure that whoever the person is making the connections is also a contributor to the base of knowledge.
She told a story at a guy named Roberto, who using his network of peers, asks questions via email, blog site, cube neighbors, IM and get answers.
In just 4 hours, bu using his netowrkk of resources and finding/communicating with an expert, he completes his Net Presentation value.
Then, he needed help with putting it all together, so he goes to his global network of "neighbors" seeking their help. This is where
Social networking tools come in.

In addition to formal learning options, employees interact with peers, with resources, and with experts in order to learn what they need, when they need it. The learning environment is personalized.
Visually Connecting People

Take small steps with individual Projects and Programs
Keep the long range plan in mind - keep comparing the grand picture to current opportunities

Indetify and talk about the business value ... constantly
Study the global population to understand challenges and opportunities
