SharePoint calculated fields containing numeric data that are shown with a comma
Here is a basic tip If you have a calculated field contains numeric data, SharePoint by default formats the field and displays it comma to separate the thousands. This behavior can be overcome if you concatenate a string portion (or even a blank string i.e. &””) to the calculated field. So using the example Michael Helland spoke about in the above link even =Year(Date)&”” will work too ......

Fighting spyware
As you might have gathered from my last post, I was able to get an ADSL connection for my home from our local telecom provider. Being connected has brought up a very new issue I have to fight, i.e. Spyware. Previously being disconnected, spyware wasnt much of an issue, but now I have to fight them off/stay away from them, tie them to a post and burn them (well that sort of thing), and heaven forbid if anything happens to my registry. Anyways I've found one Spyware remover which is pretty good. Its ......

They are finally upon us
Its finally here, the long awaited PC games for 2004 are out Half Life 2 can be purchased at (www.steampowered.com) and Need For Speed : Underground 2 (along with the new snoop dog single) Currently playing Doom 3, actually got my hands on Doom 3 last weekend, and I don’t think I will be playing it for long. In my opinion Doom 3 totally lives up to the standard of the original Doom games, which basically boils down to kill almost everything that moves. And that’s the biggest problem for me, after ......

Collector for Firefox
Here is a little tool (use a popup blocker when visiting) I’ve been coding in my free time. The idea is to emulate the Collector in Maxthon (formerly MYIE2) which once you get used to you cannot do without. Hence the reason I had to breakout Visual Studio. What it does is it saves whatever file/item you drag onto it to a location you specify in the settings. So basically you can drag images links and the By the way it is temporarily hosted at the above Url. I am planning to Sourceforge it soon ......

Recently I had a need to open up a PayPal account. So popped open a browser and surfed off to www.paypal.com, the sign up form over there doesn’t have Sri Lanka in its drop down list, so I hopped over to this page which shows you for which countries Paypal accounts are available for, and as you might have guessed no Sri Lanka. Well I don’t think its PayPal’s fault; I feel has more to do with the state of IT in the country/banks in the country. Oh well what to do, just fuss about it for a couple of ......
