Some of you have probably already seen Google’s April 1st announcement of their technology to use “Motion Sensing” to control Gmail. I betcha Google probably didn’t think of Kinect when making that spoof or perhaps they did which is why it sound plausible in a remote way. Anyways the FAST crew have brought responded to the spoof with demoing their Software doing just that. i.e. having motion control for Gmail using a Kinect and custom software of theirs. Actually this seems very feasible if you could ......
Now this is awesome. Wont it be really cool, if this technology gets built into laptops or becomes a very simple attachment (i.e. size of a memory stick :), one can surely keep wishing eh?). But still for all the concept of being able to go into a meeting with a smarphone/pda and this device and be able to deliver a full presentation using just those 2 is a real wow factor in my book. Whether this device can work with a smartphone is yet to be determined. Technorati tags: Projector, Technology, Micro, ......
I just came across this video which apparently was aired on nerd.tv Anina who is a model (can i say top international model?) talks about the use of mobile technology when travelling. Its very interesting to see how technology is being put to use, and this is one good testimony of its use. You should read her blog, she seems very passionate about technology in fashion. She also speak about how as usual ISP/Telecom providers tend to muck up the entire thing. She also has started a project about blogging ......
Came across this on EndGadget
We all knew that this would happen eventually. Its a welcome surprise to see this technology or cellphone payment being put to use practically.
“ Moviegoers need only go to the MBO site, buy a ticket, wait for a text message with a link back to MBO, and follow the link to a webpage with a unique barcode representing the purchase. “
Valve have released the 'The Lost Coast', a HDR Lighting Demo level for HalfLife 2. Along the progress of the game you do have 'narratives' which exposes you to various aspects of building the game, character modeling and the technology itself. The best part is that this a free demo, however if you the requirements for HDR is very high. What is required is a processor speed greater than 2.8Ghz, more than 1GB Ram, and a Direct X 9 Card, which means I don't get to see all those cool bloom effects. ......
Autoblog a daily blog on the auto industry has an article speaking about Hologram Technology by Zebra Imaging being used in the auto industry to replace the practice of building clay models to visualize designs. "Zebra Imagings new technology takes only hours to produce and costs a hell of a lot less than an old fashioned clay model. The holographic images are printed on tiles that can be viewed either on a wall or flat on a table, and they can easily be made as large as a full size automobile" ......
I saw this on CNN today. Pretty neat technology - http://www.gizmodo.com/gadg... Its a monitor that can show 2 images at the same time depending on the angle you are looking at it from ......
This is interesting technology. SenSound LLC has developed technology involving microphones and complex data post processing to produce multi dimensional images of sound. ......

Those of you who have been keeping track of Steam Update news, probably already know that some months back Valve injected a bit of the HDR lighting technology in to the Source Engine. Theres to be a expansion comming out solely to demo this technology. Well I'm shocked at what graphics the HDR lighting tech can create. Take a look for yourself. Cnet news.com has an interview with Ray Ozzie, regarding how he will be involved with Microsoft. I think Groove's acquisition by Microsoft will be a great thing (heck it was bound to happen anyway). I've played around with groove about a couple of years back, and I liked what I saw. Anyways in a previous post of mine about Moon Edit I hinted at how real-time interactive collaboration was lacking in the office system (SharePoint namely). This is where I feel the P2P technology behind groove can really ......
Bob Mixon pointed out MoonEdit on his blog. Had an hour of fun with this application. I think it has a lot of potential. Technology similar to this is something I would prefer to have in the next version of Visual Studio (I havent checked out 2005 or Team System yet). But imagine the new twist this capability will give to Pair Programming. Ok Pair Programming might not have been the best example. but there would naturually be quite a productivity boom by 'peer-to-peer-ifying' collaborative application ......
Maurice shares some thoughts on what most probably might be with the next Version of SharePoint. He also mentions vaguely the nuance of developing and deploying WebParts. The fact is SharePoint v Next will built on the next version of Asp.net. I am sure that most of you would agree that WSS is today what it is because of Asp.net. The move up from SPS 2001 or STS to SharePoint 2003 was phenomenal. All that productivity capabilities just opened up with the 2003 versions. I suspect that we can look ......
This may be old news but… It’s nice to see a technology that was in SharePoint for sometime finally find its way in to ASP.NET. When I first got my hands on SharePoint 2003 in its early Beta stages I was totally in awe about the WebPart Framework. On this note does anyone have an idea when we will get to see what killer features would be present in SharePoint Version Next (perhaps it’s too early to ask) ......
I saw this linking on NeoWin about Fujitsu to adopt Longhorn for its mainframe technology in attempt target IBM mainframes. Now just in case I missed something, do they mean the mysterious Longhorn Server? And later on it says "It quoted Fujitsu chairman Naoyuki Akikusa as saying that it and Microsoft will use Windows Server 2003 for Intel based high performance servers using 64-bit processors in the first half of 2005." Bad Inquirer! you are going to be added to my "high probablility of being ignored" ......
Gamespy has a
recap of the technology behind the really realistic models in HalfLife 2, which was demoed at GDC.
CNET has an article on the hiccups Real Network's has faced through its life. http://news.com.com/2009-10... Just a note to this - A long time ago when I was an intern my current employer wanted to prototype “some” streaming technology that would be usefull in broadcasting presentations for internal use. Back then Real Networks had better compression and buffering that Windows Media technologies. One of the little reasons amongst others, why Real was not chosen as the technology ......
Looks like GotSharePoint.com got recently updated with a bunch of hot news. Here is a rap of the recent headlines.

I use to find the Microsoft Webcasts a great resource. It is very usefull for finding out about a new Microsoft technology or really comming up to speed about a technology concept. Infact I was quite a proponent of it claiming that Microsoft are real nice people making such great resources available (for free I might add). And I am sure the webcasts did their own bit in marketting MS products and technologies. It used to be quite fantastic. Yes I said “Used To Be“. Previously you could ......

Looks like theres a robot that can do Origami now. - Cool!
I can actually imagine this technology being integrated with the printers of the future. Just think of how all those defective printouts can become table ornaments automatically :)
