Some of you have probably already seen Google’s April 1st announcement of their technology to use “Motion Sensing” to control Gmail. I betcha Google probably didn’t think of Kinect when making that spoof or perhaps they did which is why it sound plausible in a remote way. Anyways the FAST crew have brought responded to the spoof with demoing their Software doing just that. i.e. having motion control for Gmail using a Kinect and custom software of theirs. Actually this seems very feasible if you could...
Not that I use these things much, but on a few other occasions I have had the need to use Google Documents, and was quite contempt with it. The scenario where I would personally see the need for these kind of applications is when I want to share documents and stuff, and also be restricted with not having the Office programs available, e.g. WebCafes etc. So today moved by all the hype around the announcement of Office Live Workspaces I gave it a try, and I am impressed. The interface looks elegant,...
Was doing some deep digging in google to find a comprehensive post on MOSS's Security Model, and came across Reza's post. Its a good read and comprehensive. Technorati tags: SharePoint, MOSS, WSS, Securtiy, Object Model, Permissions, SPRole, SRoleDefinition, SPRoleAssignment Cross-posted from tariqayad.com...
Where do you go to download VS2005 Extensions? Seriously where do you go? How do you know what the latest CTP is? of if an Extension is released or is in RC? Its weird but www.visualstudio.com (aka http://msdn2.microsoft.com/... doesn't list any, netfx3.com doesn't list any of the extensions or the CTPs. Googling for an Extension by name is of no luck, the result takes you to a download page for the most referenced CTP (which may not be the latest). Speaking of CTPs how do...
If you want to you can skip the blah blah blah of this post and go get it here is the link - StarUML (pls note workaround to quirky object naming is at the bottom) Anyways, sometime last week I was looking for a UML modelling tool, and was looking for something that would be easy on the pocket. There is a few sites out there that have listings up of the various UML tools, if you google for them you will find them. Most of the ones that cost $0 weren't impressive at all, and then there was ArgoUml,...
The last few days I've been playing around with Google docs. Its pretty neat. Its google's take on writely and irows both rolled into one. Its not bad, it also supports exporting the spreadhseet/document to popular document formats (e.g. xls, doc, pdf etc). tags: Google, Goolge Docs Cross-posted from tariqayad.com...
I was checking my referer logs and came across this http://blogsearch.google.com/ Google has search dedicated to blogs - woah! when did that happen. Interesting! Technorati : blogsearch, google Cross-posted from tariqayad.com...
I really don’t see what the point of Google Talk is. Unlike GMail it is just another IM client to the already cluttered domain of IM clients. Nothing really innovative there, or at least not yet. But for those of you who are like me and are side stepping all of these IM clients by using something like Trillian (or Gaim for that matter) ForeverGeek has a post showing the Jabber settings used by Google, so if you are on Trillian you can get the Jabber plug-in from here. Update: Google themselves...
What a frustrating day. I spent hours looking for a code snippet on google on how to achieve something that I was very sure I had done. I was looking for the snippet which does not bring up the enter credential box if the user does not have rights for a sharepoint section. I knew it could be done, I had done it before. I spent an awfull long time searching the newsgroups (as i recalled the place i had seen it the first time). All this for what? just the one line below // Prevent the request for access...
Saw the buzz about Yahoo Mindset at Lockergnome.com This is also interesting, Y!'s version of Google Labs: http://next.yahoo.com/...
Was doing a google search to find something about SharePoint’s CreateWS.aspx page. The search results returned were interesting. Here some sites that are listed, all running SharePoint. - Destination Desktop - ISC Consulting - Eushe.org Heres the search results I got...
Maurice shares some thoughts on what most probably might be with the next Version of SharePoint. He also mentions vaguely the nuance of developing and deploying WebParts. The fact is SharePoint v Next will built on the next version of Asp.net. I am sure that most of you would agree that WSS is today what it is because of Asp.net. The move up from SPS 2001 or STS to SharePoint 2003 was phenomenal. All that productivity capabilities just opened up with the 2003 versions. I suspect that we can look...
Scoble points to Google Suggest. "As you type, Google will offer suggestions. Use the arrow keys to navigate the results" Wow
Have you seen google groups recently. Notice the link say ‘New’ but the logo still saying ‘beta’ Its still in denial if you ask me...
Recently I was writing a mail to a friend of mine, who wanted to know how I customized Firefox to give me the same features as MYIE2 (which I used to love). So I thougth I'd share the content with you as well. Actually there is nothing much to it, all you got to know is the proper extension to install. My current list to duplicate most of MYIE2 (now known as Maxthon) functionality is Tab Browser Extensions (TBE) Petit TBE All in one gestures Super drag and go miniT Ie view add bookmark here copy...
This hit my scanners today. A couple of folks from Microsoft and Sun have left to join Google. So far it is rumored that Google is planning on building a web browser. What I don’t understand is with FireFox, Mozilla, Opera, etc why bother. But then I am inclined to think that it might be a contribution to the Mozilla effort or a spin-off based on Mozilla. The other angle to this is that now Microsoft and Sun might have a few vacancies J Any predictions anyone on what the browser will be called. How...
Scoop from Neowin Fortunately for me I haven’t really gotten into the GMail groove, its been just another one of those mail servers on the web for me, but I have a lot o friends who rely on GMail as their primary email provider and they are pretty upset at loosing their email addresses if Google changes from GMail. Original article is here...
Oooh looky here, I've got a google page rank of 1 http://www.google.com/searc... This could be trouble, I could be in for a great deal more comment spam in the future
Talk about an overloaded dose of SPAM On the lighter side - Lessons learnt from this, Do not make a post about Halo 2, it has too much of a fan base (or multiple personalities of a single individual attempting to be a large fan base) that spams you If you are making a post about Halo 2, do not call it Halo 2 or anything that would draw this enormous fan base to your blog. If you find out too many refferals from google - its early warnging - you are heading for trouble Scott should be pleased, .Text...
Have any of you seen WSS FAQ? Yeah? Which one? Today I discovered there are 2 sites that go by the same name, both running on SharePoint (Can the net get any nicer?) One is the very informative WSS FAQ by Collutions and the other is the WSS Demo Site The latter I came across today whilst trying to do a google search for the former (talk about stealing someones thunder). Anyways I was flattered to see me on their blog roll along with LauraJ, but my first thought on this was, where are the others,...
Whilst surfing the internet there is the rare occasion where you come across the odd Chinese site. Usually if the site has some content you want, you are at a loss since the almighty google doesnt have translation from Chinese. That's one of the nice features of WorldLingo - it takes up from where google fails. What's really neat is that I can do this from within MyIE2 in just a couple of clicks [RSS Bandit]...
No no no; I am not copying the Mobile Minute or .NET Nightly. For all i know this might be a once off thing. Nevertherless Nino and J Avery sure are an inspiration (if this becomes more than a once off thing you guys are acknowledged) Anyway just wanted to publicize some links i found 1. SharePoint free online trial 2. SharePoint on TechNet 3. SharePoint Developer Center on MSDN 4. Michael Greth's Sharepoint Weblog - probably more concise and less confusing than points 2 & 3. Best if you know...
