Lord of the Rings Online, a MMORPG from Turbine apparently uses .NET. The system requirements explicitly say so. I am not sure what parts of the game are .NET and which are native code, but I assume that the launcher is written in .NET and I did spy some resource assemblies being downloaded in the update process. The version of .NET required is 1.1 with Service Pack 1. Which means on a Vista box framework 1.1 gets installed in the LOTRO setup. Hmm need to explore more. Anyway's here is 2 incriminating...

I first heard about this on Tim Absath's blog (yeah hes the super duper cartoonist behind Ctrl+Alt+Del). He does give a pretty accurate run down on video game addiction if you might call it that. Then again it was on Lockergnome, no sorry Real TechNews. Technorati : Gaming...

Those of you who arent into gaming or NFS you can skip this post. <rant> Good game, but it is also a dissapointment. Most will have to wait for a big consumer unveiling of the new OS this coming January at CES, yours truly was on-hand to see Windows Vista in action." - Microsoft's Lisa Sikora, Product Manager for Windows Gaming...

Here is a few interesting tidbits BIZ: The next version of Windows (Longhorn) is supposed to be more console-like in that it's going to eliminate the need to download drivers and installing games will be easier. I was just thinking today that my good old GeForce 4 that I have at home is comming close to retirement, and its about time I replaced it. But the question that is dancing around my mind is "with what?" The question of whether to go with an ATI or NVidia could be something as close to being as sacred as the question of 'would you buy an Evolution or Impreza WRX' - well may be not, the "Evolution or Impreza" is totally a matter of opinion with minute similarities, but the dillema is that it increasingly...
