You wouldn’t drink 9 year old milk would you?
This is an absolutely brilliant campaign to urge users that its time to move on from IE 6. I like how it puts it terms that everyone can understand and has probably experienced at one time or another. How many times have you opened the milk, took a sniff, and experienced that visceral reaction that accompanies catching a whiff of milk that has turned to the dark side of the force? I call it Darth Vader milk. :-) Of course I’m assuming that you haven’t used IE 6 for a long time now. It is our responsibility...

Raleigh, NC Most Wired City in U.S.
Wooo hoo!!! We’re #1! We’re 1!! Ok, I’m not Canadian so I’m not talking about hockey. What I am talking about is the latest article from Forbes magazine putting my town, Raleigh, NC, on top of it’s most broadband connected cities in the U.S.! Taken from the article: “Raleigh's win means it ranks higher overall than any other U.S. city in three measures: broadband penetration, broadband access and plentiful wi-fi hot spots. Taken together, the factors point to a populace that readily uses high-speed...

Microsoft MVP For a 6th Time
"First I'd like to thank all the members of the Academy for their support and their continued confidence in me and my work. Let me add that it was truly an honor working on a film with such a fantastic crew, director, producer, and of course the other actors." ...and so goes how my acceptance speech for an Oscar would go. But today I'd like to thank Microsoft for their continued confidence in me as a technical community leader. This morning I received word that I have received my 6th MVP Award and...

From this Rolling Stone story: "In a victory for both Canadian prog rock and awesomely clever puns, VH1 Classic will ring in Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) with Rush Hashanah. The channel will air 24 hours of Rush on September 29th." SUH-WEEEEET!!! UPDATE #1: You can find the VH1 Classic schedule for the day here. UPDATE #2: I'm watching it right now!! Have a day. :-|...

Stolen Identity via Password Reset
Interesting quick read from the Scientific American website. Here's the lead in: "The author asked some of his acquaintances for permission to break into their online banking accounts. The goal was simple: get into their online accounts using the information about them, their families and acquaintances that is freely available online." The results are very EYE OPENING! You might want to check this out. Have a day. :-|...

Gator Nationals 2008 - One More Time...
I've had a couple people ask me if we took any pictures while we were "behind the velvet ropes" at the races this past weekend. Here's one of me standing next to the Torco Top Fuel dragster driven by JR Todd. You can see the crew busy in the background. They were in the process of tearing down the engine and rebuilding it for the next qualifying pass. Thanks again to Don Higgins of Crew Chief Pro 7.0 software fame and the accommodating crew members on the JR Todd and Hot Rod Fuller teams for putting...

NHRA Gator Nationals 2008 Drag Racing And Crew Chief Pro 7.0!
I made my annual trip down to Gainesville, FL this past weekend to attend the NHRA Gator Nationals and had a blast as usual! Nitro burning Top Fuel Dragsters and Funny Cars just do something to get the testosterone a pumping! There is nothing like watching (and HEARING!) a car go from zero to over 330mph in 4 seconds! While this post doesn't appear to be technology related it is. How so? Well I had a chance to meet Don Higgins, lead software developer of Crew Chief Pro 7.0. Crew Chief Pro 7.0 is...

I just want to say a huge THANK YOU to Microsoft and everybody on the VB team. I've been recognized as an MVP for the 5th year in a row and I couldn't be more appreciative and thankful to everyone who had anything to do with me being awarded again. VB ROCKS! ...as does the entire VB team. It's people on the VB team like Beth Massi, who has been doing an outstanding job working with the VB Community BTW, that makes it fantastic being associated with such a great development langauage! Come, leave...
