Hurricane Wilma Update
Some of you may know my roots are in South Florida, Hollywood to be exact. The good news is that many of the friends and family members I have down there (Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Davie, Pembroke Pines, Boca Raton, and Fort Lauderdale) have their power restored already. Fortunately damage to any of their homes was minor, if any, and for that I'm thankful. I think it is unbelievable how resilient and prepared for this type of thing Florida is. Case in point, less than a week after Wilma comes through, the University of Miami Hurricanes football team played and
defeated the University of North Carolina Tarheels
in the Orange Bowl this past Saturday. Go 'CANES!!! Though I miss my friends and family down there, I'm sure I won't be moving back down there anytime soon!

Yip, we have the Governor Jeb Bush to thank for the Hurricane preparedness.
Even last year during our 4 hurricanes, his office was on top of things. As always, its a learning process.
I have a feeling that if Gov. Bush was in charge of Louisiana, there wouldn't have been nearly so much confusion, lack of leadership and the situation would've been a ton different.
Michael Brown (former FEMA boss) praised Florida's responsiveness and made the comparison between Florida's reaction and Louisiana's. Eye opening stuff. Basically the local officials let the people of New Orleans down.
