Dave Oliver's Blog Enterprise Technology Thought Leadership in a FTSE 100

Recently I have had the pleasure to work with Paul Homan and benefit from his wealth of experience in Enterprise Architecture which is considerable.

His CV is impressive having held the role of Enterprise Architect for seven years in the wild, sat on the Open Group Architecture Executive Forum and had a hand in shaping TOGAF since version 2. He *may* even be the reason why we have the infamous TOGAF crop circles. So Paul is without doubt a thought leader in the EA space.

Paul has decided that it's time to contribute and talk about areas of EA rarely covered such as practice and leadership so has started a blog on Wordpress http://homanp.wordpress.com

He's second post on Junior Enterprise Architect resonates with me as I am new to the practice, however at the tender age of 37 I'm not sure that I can get away with any title that has 'Junior' in it but I understand the sentiment. It is clear however that Architects are grown specially in these days where experience counts more than following a process until a standard appears that nails it.

So what about certification? Well my view on this debate is that certification should be used as a vehicle to train Architects not a membership to an exclusive club. As for proof of experience? Well I think we need to work on what EA is exactly and agree before we can start creating benchmarks to obtain.

Anyway, Paul, welcome to the Blogsphere.
