At the weekend I heard that Robert Scoble has decided to leave Microsoft to join a start-up in Silicon valley, PodTech.Net.
Robert was the human face and ambassador for Microsoft that did so much for their image, he did it by tapping into the 'real Microsoft' which many us really didn't know existed, the legions of hard-working people that passionately believe in what they are doing that never really recieve much in the way of recognition, these people are the real creators and innovators, Robert merely took his camera into the ants nest and peeled off the covers on all the cool stuff going on inside.
Robert was part the Channel 9 team that hasn't been dismantled on his leaving and by default still is a member of a greater team, us, the great unwashed, the humble members of Channel 9.
The natural successor to Robert as the ambassadors for Microsoft is us here on Channel 9, real people that don't work for Microsoft that use their products everyday. We've promise to keep it real and tell it how it is as we have done since the very first day.
If Microsoft screw up, we'll tell'em, if they do something right, we'll tell'em. We'll help them move forward because we're all on this path together; they make the tools that help us do our jobs. We are here as the constant reminder to Microsoft of who they are making their products for.
So here's the deal Microsoft! You keep listening; we'll keep telling you how it is.
I'm sure Robert would approve.
