What am I going to do with my blog?

I've had this wonderful blog for sometime and I've come to a crossroads with it.

I should imagine I'm just like many other bloggers that reach a point where you ask yourself telling questions and the ones I am asking myself are ..

Why am I blogging? Enjoyment? Self-Promotion? Getting in touch with others?

What is the focus of my site?

Who are the people that read my site?

Is keeping the blog uptodate taking over?

I feel sometimes I'm just regurgitation news, admittedly sometimes with my own spin but is it really adding value?

Is generating more orginal content the answer?

Should I comment on every piece of news in my sphere of interest?

I'm I just an unpaid advertising space for Microsoft?

Do I have the time or the inclination?

Should I continue? If I do I will have to make a few changes to make the experience enjoyable again and work out a balance so I can do all the things I want to do and not let my blog take over.

For now, I'm going back to keeping it simple, I'm just going to post on the stuff I find interesting whatever that may be.

Anyway, let me know what you think, I could do with the advice and feedback right now.

Hey man... I feel your pain. GWB is an interesting phenomenon too... it can be tough to post about non-super-techy stuff here and just post what interests you, but that is what makes blogging fun. I got burned out on it for a bit when I was wondering who reads it and if I am making them happy... then I remembered its MY blog and the following I developed was because of the stuff I posted... which was stuff I liked... so basically just do what feels right to you, just dont let the blog become a burden. Take a few steps back and breathe. It will still be here when you are ready. Also, FWIW I really dig your posts, so I hope you dont stay gone for long. 4/20/2006 11:23 AM | Chris Williams

Dave, sounds like you need a new job? get that rush of trying something new and being truly empowered? ;-))
If it doesn't feel right for the moment, let it cruise for a while - then pick up the keyboard when you need to get it off your chest?
