I’m sick to the back teeth! I could scream! I could pull my hair out in great big clumps!
I’m working on a large project currently that has meant watching more than a few presentations from large software vendors and it has to be said many of which have focused on the negative by casting fear, uncertainty and doubt over other vendors. This practice is as old as the hills and therefore is easy to spot and just puts me off listening to another word from a vendor’s representative.
Which leads me to my next statement and that is ...
I pledge the next vendor that uses FUD in a session I’ve organised I will ask them to leave then and there! I’ll give them fair warning before hand that I want them to focus on matching their product against our requirement and not to stray into Fudsville.
So my message is clear … ditch the FUD and sell your products on it merits and matched against the customers requirement, if it can’t strand up against the competition than go back and code till it does.
I’m itching to name a vendor that really got on my nerves recently, but out of good grace I won’t but what is clear I will from now on name and shame as a service to other and a hint to get it sorted out.
Remember the customer is King and fighting amongst ourselves will actually lose custom and faith that we as an industry can’t deliver. We did this once before and the bubble burst, let’s not do it again.
