Reading Rob Caron’s blog it seems that Visual Studio 2005 and Team Foundation Server aren’t now going to RTM (‘Release To Manufacture’) at the same time. Team Foundation Server will in fact have another Beta version, which will be its third.

Now I am disappointed that Team Foundation Server will be later than VS2005 but rather late than arrive with bugs, so IMHO it is the correct thing to do.

I don’t believe you can be puerile and say if you quote a date you should stick to it. I believe this further demonstrates the point that software creation is not a process, it's a story. These things are finished when they are finished estimations are just merely a vehicle to manage people’s expectations.

The difficulty for me will be justifying the migration to VS2005 without it. I’m not belittling such a major release but the main thing I was selling to my management was the greater project visibility. Oh well, now I will have to manage my managers expectations.
