Guys… As mentioned in my last post that I’ll be sharing a live demo of Desktop simulation we did in Silverlight. Please don’t go mad because I’m a bit late to do it. Actually I have been so busy last 2-3 days but now its live.

Enter any password and login, you are ready to play. Don’t try this on Real Windows because such a deed will be useless :P

If you want to host it on your website, you are more than welcome to do that and here is the iframe you need to add to your webpage:

<iframe src="http://silverlight.services.live.com/invoke/69442/Windows%207%20SL%202/iframe.html" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="width:100%; height:600px"></iframe>

And here is standalone demo.

P.S: Silverlight Streaming does not support Silverlight 3 right now so I could not upload a version converted in that with offline execution support.

Happy Silverligting!

Hi Zubair,

Thanks for liking the app :). There is a bit of learning curve to get a grip on Silverlight. First of all you need the tools to get all this done. See here what tools you need: http://silverlight.net/GetStarted/

And then to start learning you can watch these videos: http://silverlight.net/Learn/

I have also shared the code which you can download and play with. But without understanding of the technology, you'll not be able to understand what's in the code. So you need to learn it from the links I have shared. www.silverlight.net is a one great place to answer all your questions. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask.

# re: Finally Windows 7 Desktop Simulation is Live 4/25/2009 10:51 PM RizwanSharp
Hi Azhar,

Thanks for your comment. But what's not working? I and many other people can view it on iour machines. Is it not loading up? Do you have Silverlight 2.0 Installed to view the content? Have you tried it in another browser than IE or Firefox?

Thanks,

Rizwan

Excellent job.

Can you please add functionality to open a window, minimize and maximize them?

# re: Finally Windows 7 Desktop Simulation is Live 8/3/2009 8:58 AM Sudhaker
Excellent!!!!!!!....Happy to see this..
You could have made better..I hope you can do it..
Hope to recieve that infrmation soon...
ALL DE BEST..............

# re: Finally Windows 7 Desktop Simulation is Live 8/3/2009 11:13 PM RizwanSharp
@SilverDude
Its a security restriction in Silverlight that it block most of the keyboard keys while in full screen mode except for some keys e.g Arrow Keys...

@Chakravarthi
That can be done, infact many people have already done Windowing Framework in Silverlight... You should search on the web.

@Sudhaker
Yes that could be made better but this was just a small experiment so we did it and dont plan to enhance it. Anything can be easily added to the project. You can download the code and add it yourself :).

Thanks for the Feedback Guys...

Best Regards,
RizwanSharp

Hi,

Can you please do it for me?
I found few solutions in internet. but I could not integrate them with your app as I am a new bee to silverlight.
I request you to provide this feature so that It will be complete. Windows7 without showing windows is not complete naa
