I am testing Windows 7 Beta since almost 6 weeks now. Granted, I was not a fan of Vista since it was to slow and the file explorer was a mess. Windows 7, still a beta version with debug code, is so refreshing fast, offers a better file handling and the processing times for almost everything are amazing fast. IE8 is doing very well and highly compatible! I am looking so forward to the final version. Great Job Microsoft Teams!

Hi, my name’s Feran and I’m working with the Internet Explorer Outreach Team. Thank you for your input and opinion about Windows 7 and IE8.

Just in case you did not already know, I'd thought I’d mention that an update was recently released a little over a week ago that will improve Internet Explorer’s reliability for users running the Windows 7 Beta. The update is now available via Windows Update, and can also be downloaded via Microsoft Update. For more onfo you can check out http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/ .

I hope this helps,
Feran

feranm_ie8team : Nowhere to be found on Windows update / Microsoft Update for Windows 7 beta, by the way.

Since the "test updates" back on 2-24-09, there have only been one Silverlight update and 3 Defender updates available for Windows 7 beta.

This is as of March 9, 2009 7:24pm EDT.

BTW, Rainer, how's the new taskbar working for you? I find that it has both advantages and disadvanatges, but it clearly favors the non-technical users over a typical GeeksWithBlogs poster. Curious as to your experience.

Nevermind...

The IE8 beta update on Windows 7 beta is listed as "Update for Windows 7 Beta (KB962921)" and happen to arrive along with the "test windows updates" on the 24th of Feb. That is why I missed it.

Thanks

You are right Joe, I missed it to, until you mentioned KB962921 and the bell rung!

I think you are right not only regarding the taskbar, but in general that the favor is with the non-technical users.

It is great that at least technical users have now so many options to customize Win7 with all the settings and properties.
From what I read, there will also be the option to make Win7 leaner, taking parts which you don't use complete out.
