New Things I Learned

This past Thursday through Saturday, the Kansas City Developer Conference happened.  It was an awesome event - attendees, speakers, and vendors all totalled over 800 people.  Learning and fun was had by all.

I got to meet great people and attended excellent sessions all around; I enjoyed the Reactive Extensions session by Aaron Hoffman; it was a complicated subject and it is very tight to fit it in 50 minutes, but it was interesting still nonetheless.  A quick shoutout to people I meet: Lee Brandt, Boon Lee, Jonathan Mills (thanks for giving me the opportunity to be there), Rob Keefer, Steve Rogalsky, Brian Schroer, and my driving partner Jesse Phelps.

I did the Introduction to Android Software Development, a 2 hour session and got one of the audience to participate (thanks @codeWithoutFear).  There were plenty of engagement from the audience, half Java developers, half .NET developers and hopefully my session was useful to them.  The materials can be downloaded from here.

In the end, I wanted to say thanks to the KCDC organizers and hope that my contribution was beneficial to them.  I got to meet and talk with really smart people; learned a lot from my time there and also have some fun among developers in general.  Hopefully I can be involved next year; and also look forward to this year's St. Louis Day of .NET.
