Using Knowledge Management to vastly improve Database Management

Using Knowledge Management to vastly improve Database Management

undefined

Database Management needs to continue move into direction by using Knowledge Management. She sees Data moving from being a cost center administrative function to an active contributor of corporate profits.

Outcomes and Opportunities this Idea affords:

Working closely with an organization's Database Management Team to apply her knowledge in finding the right tools and technique as well as the right assignment.

  • One of the most important areas deals with defining permissions correctly so that the correct access is granted for various database objects. Permissions can be granted to a user or role to allow that user or role to perform operations such as selection, insertion, or modification of data rows.
  • Another important area is to ensure that each database object has an owner. By default, the owner is the creator of an object, but the ownership can be transferred later after the object has been created. In addition to the owner, the members of the sysadmin fixed server roles have full permissions on all objects in all user and system databases.
  • Create a Database Knowledge Management System that captures important work-related data including traditional "hard" and "soft" skills, as well as "cultural" skills. Use analysis to identify "hubs of knowledge." This is a starting point for enabling us to make better use of this knowledge by practicing what we are doing with Data Managements and use all tips provided from all sources in local Developer communities as a starting point.
  • Use the User input for team building. Implement and identifies Data management issues for resolution and capture tacit inclusion in knowledge database management.

Resources affected:

  • Studies have identified that companies typically spend over $40,000 or more implementing different databases; reducing these numbers will have a very positive impact on profits.
  • Identifying the right assignments will result in greater outcomes for the organization and greater fulfillment, thereby increasing an organization's success.
  • This can lead to changing Database Management from a cost-center administrative function to an active contributor of corporate profits. Converting a cost-center to a profit-center is a very powerful side-effect.

Risks Mitigated....

  • The key issue is not about the latest information technologies, but whether those technologies are used within, and for facilitating, a culture of information sharing, relationship building and trust. This relationship building is complimented with Relationship Performance, another initiative with an exceptional return.
  • She is certified in both Solution Developer and SQL Server Database Developer.
