Disable Right-Click = Stupid. (and how to defeat it.)

Why do webmasters disable the context menu?

Surfing around today I found www.webtechgeek.com and decided to subscribe to the RSS feed there.  Considering I was using IE at the time, I was going to right click the RSS feed, copy the location, and paste it into my RSS reader.

Boom, warning box:

You do not have permission to right-click.

Dumb.  Why is it so important that one not right-click on the page?  What is so valuable?  Plus, it is so easily defeated:

  1. Right Click on the page and continue to hold the button down
  2. Hit Enter to close the dialog box
  3. Let off the right mouse button
  4. Hit Enter to close the dialog box again
  5. Poof... the context menu appears.

Anyway, he lost a reader to his feed for being so silly...
