Why do webmasters disable the context menu?
Surfing around today I found www.webtechgeek.com and decided to subscribe to the RSS feed there. Considering I was using IE at the time, I was going to right click the RSS feed, copy the location, and paste it into my RSS reader.
Boom, warning box:
You do not have permission to right-click.
Dumb. Why is it so important that one not right-click on the page? What is so valuable? Plus, it is so easily defeated:
-
Right Click on the page and continue to hold the button down
-
Hit Enter to close the dialog box
-
Let off the right mouse button
-
Hit Enter to close the dialog box again
-
Poof... the context menu appears.
Anyway, he lost a reader to his feed for being so silly...
